It’s a free run for him since he’s not on the ballot for his State Senate seat this year.

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Wisconsin Republican state Senator Frank Lasee says he will run for the open seat in the 8th Congressional District.

“I’m running for Congress to restore personal freedom and economic liberty so our economy can grow, businesses can hire, workers can find better jobs with bigger paychecks, and families can have a better future,” said Lasee (R-De Pere) in a statement.

The Republican lawmaker was elected to the state Assembly 1994-2006. In 2010 he was elected into the state Senate and then re-elected in 2014.

Last month, U.S. Rep. Reid Ribble announced that he would not seek re-election.
