House Passes Democratic Stimulus Package

I’m almost certain that this is the same line that Obama used. It wasn’t true then. It isn’t true now.

Biden’s administration will now oversee the biggest upgrade of America’s roads, railways and other transportation infrastructure in a generation, which he has promised will create jobs and boost U.S. competitiveness.

The president called the it ‘a once-in-generation bipartisan infrastructure bill that will create millions of jobs, turn the climate crisis into an opportunity, and put us on a path to win the economic competition for the 21st Century.’

Yah, well, we learn that AOC and Tommy Thompson both want to jam MILLIONS of dollars into Amtrak.

    Spenders spend. Taxpayers pay.

  2. MjM

If you add up the named “infrastructure” layouts they amount to about 1/3 of the $1.2 TRILLION.

    Where’s the rest going?

  3. Mike

Passed the house courtesy of the dirty thirteen Republicans

All presidents promise big on infrastructure, yet few deliver, such as:

“Donald Trump campaigned on a $1 trillion infrastructure plan. “We are going to fix our inner cities and rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, schools, hospitals,” he said in his 2016 election night victory speech. “And we will put millions of our people to work as we rebuild it.”

Very little of that happened even though R’s had control of the WH and both houses of Congress for his first two years.

  5. dad29

Even you, LeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy, know that the Republicans in Congress (see: Paul Ryan) HATED Trump and had zero interest in helping him–except for tax-reductions.

  6. Le Roi du Nord

Even you, dud, know that wasn’t and still isn’t, true. Folks like mccarthy, graham, and a lot more are still kissing his ring, among other things.

    >Very little of that happened even though R’s had control of the WH and both houses of Congress for his first two years.

And if you weren’t so dim, you’d realize that we here at the blog celebrated that it didn’t happen. Rather disingenuous of you to even mention Trump’s promises, since you didn’t vote for him, you didn’t want anything of his, and you hate him, But we understand, you want to try to create some dissonance about the current Failure in Chief, whom you voted for, and kiss his ring.

    j:

And if you weren’t such a low-wattage kinda guy you would have noticed that Owen referenced Biden, and mentioned Obama. I’m sure you didn’t vote for them, eh? But that would have required some thought on your part. And that isn’t in your forte.

I’d call you a hypocrite, but you don’t have enough going for you to qualify.

  9. Jason

I even quoted it for your for context and your smooth brain skipped right over it. Damn you dumb boy.

  10. dad29

Yah…..”smooth-brain” covers it for LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy, who can’t tell the difference between ‘getting re-elected’ (Mincing Lindsey, McCarthy) and actual, real-life opposition (Mincing Lindsey, McCarthy, and a cast of 100’s more.)

Your ignorance is not surprising, but its disappointing.

  11. Jason

Leroy always surprises me, just when I feel I’ve underestimated his intelligence, he goes and proves me wrong.

  12. Mar

Yeah, there were fake Republicans voting for the bill and they pushed it over the edge.
I hope they all get primaried and have a miserable retirement.

The RINO Rep from Omaha gets $2.5 billion for his vote.

    Other “Infrastructure”:

$250 million for the “congestion relief program”, a climate change program that will impose fees for parking and driving during peak hours. (if there are fee/fines, why the hell do we have to pay for it?)

$65 billion to bolster the country’s broadband and help ensure every American has access to high-speed internet, with one in four households expected to be eligible for a $30-per-month subsidy to pay for internet. (Needed to connect their Obama Phones)

$11 billion in transportation safety programs, including a new program to help states and localities reduce crashes and fatalities in their communities, particularly among cyclists and pedestrians (and to study deer-car collisions! Here’s the results of my study: Deer runs in front of moving car. CRASH! That’ll be $3.2 million, thank you. )

$20 million for the US DOT to increase “awareness of career opportunities in the transportation sector” and “diversity, including race, gender, ethnicity, veteran status, and socioeconomic status, of professionals in the transportation sector.” (Just what the DOT needs: more dumbasses)

$50 million for ten “Transportation Resilience and Adaptation Centers of Excellence”, which will do climate change reports and engage “disadvantaged communities”. (Translation: cash money to inner city liberal NGOs)

  14. dad29

Gee. Did the big money for railroads…….Omaha representative………Warren Buffett ……..

    Just askin’…..

  15. Tuerqas

“$250 million for the “congestion relief program”, a climate change program that will impose fees for parking and driving during peak hours. ”

Brilliant! We are going to employ millions more than now, most during the ‘peak hour’ daytime. We are going to have Guv keep bankers hours again most during the ‘peak hour’ daytime. All so we can charge you going into Guv, for Guv and coming out of Guv. They realized they had not been charging us for going, too.

You wanna really stop climate change in its tracks? So simple, have every politician in the world stop breathing.

  16. MjM

… or just have Babblin’ Joe stop gassing everyone.

  17. MjM

Could be, Daddio. But RINO Rep Don Bacon seemed to want to just bring home the bacon to better his chances in his BidenBlue district for re-election…..

“You vote one way, maybe it hurts in the primary. You vote the other way… in my district, it’d hurt me in the general.”

    What an F-stick.

Two other Neb Reps voted no.

  18. MjM

    Must read :

In repose to a post on Powerline that mentions Babblin’ Joe’s planning to shut down Enbridge pipeline #5, WI Congressman Tom Tiffany wrote:

John posted about the potential closure of Line 5 in Michigan. He correctly cited the harmful impact to Michigan.

It is so much worse, though. Crude oil via Line 5 is transported to refineries in Canada and Ohio. Plus we in Wisconsin will lose one of our most important sources of propane. My district has the most users of propane for home heating of any congressional district in America. 27% of residents in WI CD-07 use propane to heat their homes. Last year in August propane was selling for $.80 per gallon. This year it was $1.50 in August and now over $2.00 per gallon.

The Line 5 closure would be disastrous for residents of northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan as well as the entire Great Lakes region.

Wonder if those libtoads in Bayfield are paying attention.

    Here’s the Powerline post: https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2021/11/dumbest-energy-policy-ever.php

  19. Tuerqas

How the “F” will Biden run all of the machinery for his great infrastructure rebuild if he is so hell bent on destroying the oil industry in the US? Is there some new Caterpillar line of heavy machinery run on solar? Or maybe a windmill on top?

It kind of makes the whole promise of infrastructure building and job creating seem like, I don’t know,,, a bald faced lie? I am making the prediction that if the 1.75 trillion dollar package goes through, Biden will leave office with the greatest Presidential jump in personal wealth in history, assuming he lives that long. Besides pockets, where else is all that unallocated money going?

  20. Mar

I cannot wait until they come up with an electric semi truck weighing 80,000 pounds, climbing large hills and mountains andriving 24 hours a day with team drivers.

  21. Merlin

Obama 3.0 is not incompetent. They are not bumbling fools. They are pursuing a deliberately malevolent agenda and winning in spectacular fashion.
