Texas Amends Constitution to Ban Income Tax

Meanwhile, in Texas

Texas voters on Tuesday approved an amendment to the state’s constitution banning an income tax.

While Texas is already one of seven states that does not have an income tax, the amendment will make it extremely difficult to impose the tax in the future.

“Today’s passage of Prop 4 is a victory for taxpayers across the Lone Star State,” said Republican Governor Greg Abbot. “I am grateful to Rep. Jeff Leach for his bold leadership on this issue, and for the overwhelming majority of Texans who voted to ensure that our great state will always be free of a state income tax.

“This ban on such a disastrous tax will keep our economy prosperous, protect taxpayers, and ensure that Texas remains the best state to live, work, and raise a family,” Abbot continued.

Tell me again why this is impossible in Wisconsin?

33 reasons in the Senate, 99 in the Ass’y, and 1 in the Exec office.

That would be 133 reasons right there.

Extermination of Dems is still frowned upon.

Obviously neither of you guys know how to amend the WI constitution.

Instead of talking about issue at hand, there is Nord insulting commenters again to divert attention.

    Awful. Just Awful.

The State of Wisconsin spends about $14 for every person in the state while Texas spends about $8 person, based on their state budgets.
I’m sure there is room to cut in Wisconsin.

Owen asked the question, “Tell me again why this is impossible in Wisconsin?”, and the first two folks to respond obviously didn’t know or understand the process for an amendment to the WI Constitution.  Yet you attack the messenger, ignoring one of the comments that mentioned the use of “extermination” of folks with differing political viewpoints.  Or do you feel the same way, that those of differing opinions should be exterminated?  Who makes the decision?

    And you call  me awful.

Le Roi, do you know what sarcasm is? Just asking for a friend.

I’d settle for just ending the income tax for now. We don’t need to amend the constitution for that. We could do it tomorrow if there was a will to do so.

Mar, that’s when Hitler made his first jokes about sending the Jews to the camps, right?

Do you know what the truth is?  And I won’t hide behind a faux friend, I’m asking for myself.  Spin away…..

Surely the Wisconsin legislature, working in a friendly fashion behind the scenes, would be able to end the income tax and find a different way to fund the activities of the state.  I bet Fitz and Vos would be eager to cooperate with the Democrats on an issue like this, and there would be plenty of friendly give-and-take, not to mention a few beers together across the street!
