Taylor Woke

Why? WHY!?!? am I finding myself agreeing with Piers Morgan TWICE in a month?

Oh Taylor.

Why, why, WHY?

Just when I thought you were the only sane celebrity left in this increasingly mad world of frenzied partisan bullsh*t, you suddenly decide to go all ‘woke’ on me.

As you once sang: ‘Why would you wanna break a perfectly good heart?’

Of course, we all know the answer.

Taylor Swift, who is hugely popular in middle America, hasn’t chosen this moment to abandon her very sensible apolitical stance and come out as a Democrat because she genuinely thought: ‘Oh, I must alienate half my audience today.’

No, she’s done it because the howling Twitter mob hammered her into submission.

‘I’m not going to sit here and go into my political views,’ she said a few years ago, ‘because that’s not what I choose to do. I choose to do music.’

Exactly.

She was right then, and she would be right now.

But such a refreshing attitude from an entertainer is now deemed unacceptable.

Ever since Donald Trump was elected President, Taylor has been roundly abused by vicious trolls on social media for NOT attacking him in public.

She was branded a coward and a traitor, and a dog whistler for white supremacists.

Even mainstream media piled on her, condemning her for her silence.

Or she actually is an educated voter and has made a decision that a particular candidate in her home state bothers her so much that she uses her HUGE platform to try and influence voters her way. Honestly, none of us know how educated any particular celebrity is until they are challenged about it in public. But, I do hear a lot of people (usually on the right) telling athletes, actors, & singers to “stay in their lane” and “no one cares what they think.” Until one breaks their way… aka Kanye recently.

Based on her business decisions in the past, she seems like a smart person. No reason to believe that this political & business decision is any less informed.

If you can’t separate the art from the artist, then that is on you. I don’t care if every Brewer player came out and told me they were republicans, I am still rooting them on.

I highly doubt that the political pressure FINALLY got to her. She is arguably the biggest musicians in the world and it doesn’t matter what she says she is at that point; it won’t affect her music sales one way or the other significantly.

Whenever I hear the term “woke” I just think to the Tracey Ullman parody video obliterating the “woke” mentalitiy with incredible hilarity!

…and either Piers Morgan is getting more conservative or I am infected with Piers Morgan liberalism as well.

Pretty sure Piers Morgan is getting more sensible.

65000 new voter registrants immediately after Swift’s post. Hopefully those convert to actual voters.

Oh, and this morning Jay Weber literally said, “Just look pretty and sing” when referencing Swift. Stay classy.

Mobilizing the unengaged listening to liberal talking bunk from a singer that knows even less, makes bad voters.

I will happily take 65000 registered voters for either side. I hope it drives them to make a decision and make themselves knowledgeable about their district & options. Worst case scenario is they make an uneducated vote for whatever candidate Swift tells them, and then they at least have a sense of civic duty and some culpability. Hopefully driving them to do it again the next time.

And in the meantime Kanye is at the White House educating the President.

I thought Trump was racist and in the pocket of white supremist groups?

Amzing how lefties have turned on Kanye.   Shows the racism of liberals.

What does Kanye’s race have to do with anything?

My beef is about people who constantly whine about celebrities involving themselves into politics, but embrace it when they feel it benefits their party. Personally, I think a celebrity has as much right to speak up as a blogger, a talk radio personality, a businessman, a television personality, or a burger flipper.

By all appearances it looks like Kanye performed swimmingly today. I’d like to see him out there more, cheering on Trump.
