Government Acknowledges Presence of Spy Technology in Washington

Yikes.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) says it has observed “anomalous activity” consistent with the use of so-called stingrays.

They could be used by foreign spies or criminals, although the DHS said it did not know who was using them.

It added that such devices pose a “growing risk”.

Stingrays, a brand name for a type of International Mobile Subscriber Identity catcher (IMSI), are mobile phone surveillance devices that mimic mobile phone towers.

The size of a briefcase, the devices send out signals to trick mobile phones into transmitting their location and identifying information.

As well as tracking the mobile phone of a suspect, the devices also gather information about phones of bystanders who are nearby.

It is believed to be the first time the US government has acknowledged the use of rogue spying devices in Washington.

To DC spy devices: Always check out screen names with “Nord” in them.

Thanks.  I see my popularity is growing.  Looks like you are jealous.  Isn’t that against one of your commandments?

While many people are worried about their guns, this sort of thing is a much bigger threat to their freedom.

Time to get serious about protecting our country from cyber threats.

It would be nice if some of the old codgers in Congress had a clue.

… from our own government and big tech.

Village of Deerfield, Illinois just voted unanimously to not only ban but to confiscate what they consider assault weapons from their citizens.

How do they know who has these long guns?
Are they going to set-up checkpoints to search every person or vehicle entering their jurisdiction?
Is Le Roi du Nord really on the Village Board?

The government has been using stingrays for years for their own purposes, known and unknown.  They’re upset that they’ve grown cheap enough that others now have them, too.

Why shouldn’t we all be able to own and operate a stingray? How else can we overthrow the government if they turn against us?

Now I see DHS will be monitoring bloggers.

As I recall, Owen was not on the Trump train. Ruh Roh.
