Delta Pulls Sponsorship of New York Hate Group

Good for them. As a frequent Delta flyer, I’m glad they don’t support such hate speech.

Delta will not longer sponsor New York Public Theater due to a re-imagined production of Shakespeare’s classic play – Julius Caesar- which shows a Donald Trump lookalike being stabbed to death on the senate floor.

Delta will not longer sponsor New York Public Theater due to the reimagined production of Shakespeare’s classic play

Henry, who has played Trump’s character before, has a reddish-blond combover, wears a suit and sports a red tie that hangs a few inches below his belt.

The character meets his end when he is stabbed by suited conspirators, mainly women and minorities, after being dragged down from his podium in the senate.

And the Trump similarities to the president don’t stop there. A woman who attended an early session of the play said Caesar’s wife, Calpurnia – who begs him not to attend the senate due to a premonition she had foreshadowing his murder, resembles Melania Trump and speaks with a ‘Slavic accent’.

Delta Airlines typically donates between $100,000 and $499,000 annually to the New York Public Theater, and pulled its sponsorship late Sunday afternoon, according to Deadline.

Off to New York to see a play. Hopefully Kathy Griffin is in town. Would like to catch her act too or at least a photo shoot.
Typically, its conservatives who complain about the sensitive politically correct. Shoes on the other foot. Lots of whining coming out of the right. What ever happened to that freedom of speech thing?…

Delta has right to pull sponsorship from tasteless and unfunny liberal humor.

Since nearly all liberlism is unfunny, Delta should stop funding all liberal arts pretending to be comedy.

“Since nearly all liberlism (sic) is unfunny,”

I have to guess as to the true meaning, but at least there is a possibility that some “liberals” are in fact funny.  As opposed to the fact that there are no funny conservatives.

    Nord,

Funny conservatives don’t ask to be subsidized if marketplace does not want to fund their humor.

  5. Le Roi du Nord

    There no funny conservatives.

    Nord,

If Achmed, the dead terrorist, is not good conservative humor….you are in the Islamic cave.

    Liberals hate the Achmed schtick.

George Carlin comes to mind.  I think his bit on politicians hits the nail on the head perfectly.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSCqZmGIOyA.  Sadly the lame ‘comedy’ of the current crop of late night liberals is seldom funny when compared to talent like Johnny Carson.  In his last year, Carson drew 6.5M viewers.  Colbert’s attempt at humor draws less than 3M.

    k:

My claim is just as valid, and provable, as yours.  Sorry you can’t win every time.

Some are open to interpreting Julius Caesar, King Lear, Richard II, Richard III, etc. with contemporary political figures and other find it too close to the nerve to set these dramas in the present day.  Delta can patronize or not patronize whatever it wants, but I think donors should strive to be consistent if they want to wade into the arena of artistic choices.  I don’t understand why Delta would be comfortable sponsoring versions of Julius Caesar echoing Obama and not comfortable sponsoring versions with a Trump context.

Julius Caesar is not a comedy and it doesn’t celebrate Caesar’s assassination. Staging it around Trump is provocative and offensive to some (many?) but not necessarily anti-Trump.

    Nord,

Then point to at least one funny liberal comedian?

I pointed to a wildly successful, wildly funny, conservative one.

  11. Le Roi du Nord

Tim Conway, Carol Burnette, Tom and Dick, etc.

  12. Kevin Scheunemann

    How about someone this century…..

  13. Le Roi du Nord

Never heard of Dunham, can’t be that “wildly” successful.   And if you find him humorous he must be pretty rude, crude and lowbrow.

  14. Kevin Scheunemann

I take it you cannot find a funny liberal from this century.

Do you live in a cultural cave? Dunham is huge. Maybe the funniest guy in America currently.

  15. Le Roi du Nord

I’d say right now Jeff Sessions is the funniest, in a tragic sorta way, guy in the good old USA.  He sure told some whoppers today. And he said, “I don’t recall”, so many times he probably doesn’t remember where he lives.  Angus King was great as the straight man.

So being funny is only a 21st century occurrence, eh?    Tom and Dick are still topical and funny.  Burnette is as well.  And if you ever listen to John Prine tell a story he is hilarious.

And no I don’t live in a cave, I just don’t watch much TV, don’t have cable and don’t need it.  And it sure is hypocritical of you to call out anyone for living in a cultural cave.

The white nationalist troll spends his nights burning the blacks out of the lily white Nazi neighborhood.

  17. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

There is the issue. You don’t see all the painfully unfunny liberal comedians on the Daily Show, etc. 21st century Liberalism can’t be funny because liberals cry about the “victim” of any comedy, unless they are Christian, white, or associated with Trump in some way….then they try to make bloody beheadings funny, even when they are not. Generally, liberals are too angry trying to be gods of their own world, and others, to be funny. Conservatives don’t have that hang up.

  18. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

Don’t you find it hypocritical to call out anyone for using the “victim” card??  You do it all the time (UWM, IRS, POTW, religion, religion, religion…….).  Or were you really trying to be funny??

And I sure hope you don’t make your life and career decisions based on what an entertainer does or says.  Look at the mess trump made of the USA.

“Generally, liberals are too angry trying to be gods of their own world, and others, to be funny. Conservatives don’t have that hang up”.   Utter nonsense.  I’m not an angry guy by nature and you call me a liberal at every opportunity, yet you are mad at everyone that doesn’t agree with you.  How hypocritical.

  19. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

Wait a minute…you said there are no funny conservatives.   So you are saying you are not angry and not funny at same time?

    You are definitely a bureaucrat!

  20. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

Once again you are wrong on all counts.  But we intelligent readers expect nothing more from you.  Note, I didn’t say you were actually funny, but asked the question if that was your intent.  If it was, you failed.

Look up the definition of the word bureaucrat.  Or are you making stuff up as you go again?
