RBG Getting Chemo Again

Public service or party service?

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg revealed Friday that her cancer has returned and she is undergoing chemotherapy.

The 87-year-old released a statement detailing her illness after spending three days in the hospital this week, which she said was not related.

She said she had been treated for the recurrence of lesions on her liver since May 19. They had been diagnosed by a scan in February which was followed by a biopsy, she said. She had been treated last August for a tumor on her pancreas.

The oldest member of the court said in the statement: ‘I have often said I would remain a member of the court as long as I can do the job full steam. I remain fully able to do that.’

BS. If there was a Democrat in the White House, she would resign.

If she resigned I’m sure McConnell would insist that they wait until after the November election to have that elected President pick a new Justice. That’s the way it works, right?

Have to wonder what this one’s chances of longevity are.  I wonder if Supreme Court judges get a higher standard of care than typical for someone old enough to be on Medicare.

The 65-year-old chief justice was taken by ambulance to a hospital after the June 21 incident at the Chevy Chase Club…. Roberts has twice experienced seizures, in 1993 and in 2007, but Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathleen Arberg said doctors ruled out that possibility in the latest incident. Doctors believe he was dehydrated, she said…. The scene was apparently witnessed by some at the club…. The person who told The Post about the incident said Roberts’s head was covered in blood….

If Roberts goes, Trump gets at least two coming up, and there’s another Lefty who’s into his eighties up there…..

I hope RBG lives to be 100+ !

Mark, anyone would have gotten the same treatment as Roberts.

@ Mar: Mark, anyone would have gotten the same treatment as Roberts.

And what I said was: I wonder if Supreme Court judges get a higher standard of care than typical.

In case you don’t comprehend what that means, there are 9 Supreme Court justices.  So when I say “Supreme Court judges”, I am referring to more than Roberts.

Looking at what Ginsburg got for medical treatment:    She said she had been treated for the recurrence of lesions on her liver since May 19. They had been diagnosed by a scan in February which was followed by a biopsy.

In that time frame my annual eye exam was cancelled and has been rescheduled to next January.  My annual physical that was supposed to be in March has been rescheduled 3 times – might happen in October. We will see.

Neighbor had been advised eventually he will need heart surgery. Had an episode that put him in the ER and one night in the hospital. At that time his cardiologist was unable to see him for a consult – prescribed medication to stabilize him until some indefinite future date.

A friend of the family has been suffering from cancer before she turned 11.  The cancer clinic at Children’s Hospital was shut down for an extended time because of staff testing positive (it was in the news).  She was on a chemo trial that needed testing done by a certain date if there was any hope of staying on it – just made it within a few days. Kind of a moot issue – because others in the trial were not getting consistent follow up either, the trial has been terminated.

So yeah, I wonder if Supreme Court Justices (like Ginsburg) were getting deferred care like some people I know, or being attended to right away.

Nah.  We’re all equal under the law, Mark.  You know that.  It says so right on the stationery of various Federal courts and stuff.  Someplace.

Now put that mask back on and shut up with your impertinent questions, Deplorable.

  8. Mar

Mark, I was just using your example.
As far as Justice Ginsberg, no, most would not get that kind of treatment, though you have to wonder about the care Justice Alito got before he died
And Congress gets special treatment as does the President and VP and probably the cabinet secretaries.
And that is why we get crap coverage like Obamacare, VA care, BIA care etc. The people in charge think everyone has their kind of medical treatment.
And with pandemic, this is the time they should be talking about it.

    Nord,

Can I hear the same encouragement from you about Clarence Thomas?

  10. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

I hadn’t heard that Justice Thomas was suffering from cancer.  I hope he lives as long as he wants.

  11. Kevin Scheunemann

Your enthusiasm seems lacking compared to RBG.

  12. Le Roi du Nord

That is a pretty big, and inaccurate, assumption on your part. And doesn’t help your credibility.

  13. Kevin Scheunemann

Any rational person can compare your 2 statements.

  14. Le Roi du Nord

Well that leaves you out. And you are still making inaccurate assumptions.

  15. Le Roi du Nord

And I had not heard that Justice Alito has passed away. I wonder who will replace him?

Dad29 – all equal, and yet some of us seem to be imprisoned more than others.  Weird.

  17. Jason

Simple jff, the judges discussed so far are using their White Privilege to get better care, nothing else.  That’s your faulted logic, right?  They’re both white, they get better care, it must be because they are white, and their parents are white, and their grandparents are white.

That’s the nut of the White Privilege logic, and hey, if I disagree, I’m suffering from White Fragility.  Your little world is wrapped up so very nice, and yet you come here and complain about us.  LOL.
