Next Week is Winter Awareness Week in Wisconsin

Goodness… why does out government treat us like children?

MADISON, Wis. — The winter of 2018-19 was one for the record books in Wisconsin, with the state experiencing heavy snowfalls and dangerously cold temperatures brought on by the polar vortex. To help prepare everyone for what to expect in the months ahead, Gov. Tony Evers has declared Nov. 4-8, 2019 Winter Awareness Week in Wisconsin.

“The extreme cold felt across Wisconsin earlier this year is a reminder of just how dangerous winter can be,” said Maj. Gen. Don Dunbar, Wisconsin’s adjutant general and homeland security advisor. “Take time during Winter Awareness Week to make sure your emergency kits are fully supplied, have your furnace serviced and get your vehicle checked out to make sure its ready for winter road conditions.”

“The time to get ready for winter weather is before temperatures drop and snow is on the ground,” said Dr. Darrell Williams, Wisconsin Emergency Management administrator. “Getting prepared now could help save your life or the life of a neighbor during a winter storm.”

Winter is something that happens every year and has happened every year in the history of humankind. We don’t need a bunch of bureaucrats in state government to remind us that we have winter.

You do if you’re a Democrat.  Evers issued the alert for HIS voters.

  2. Le Roi du Nord says:

    dud:

Winter Awareness Week isn’t just a WI thing or a Democrat thing. But why pass up an opportunity to blame somebody for something you don’t understand, eh?

  3. Mar says:

Well, as a former Wisconsinite, now living in sunny Arizona, have at your Winter Awareness Day. Even though we had a 2 foot snowfall last winter, I am not going to fret about winter.
On the other hand, if the stupid people in Wisconsin need to be aware of cold and snow, who cares? The stupid may need reminders that it gets cold and snows in Wisconsin. Of course, in the summer time, they may need reminders that it might get hot as well.
Personally, I think Evers is going for the tweaker crowd.

  4. Kevin Scheunemann says:

More liberals in state government that have too much on their hands.

To Tokin’Tony, that’s “climate change.”  You made his case!

  6. dad29 says:

LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy, I understand “winter” very well, thanks.  Made a lot of college-tuition dollars plowing driveways and jump-starting cars.

But since Tokin’Tony thought it was necessary to issue the declaration, it’s prima facie he did it for his peeps–(D) voters.

  7. Le Roi du Nord says:

We are all glad you understand winter.  Congratulations.   But what you don’t seem to be able to grasp is that Winter Awareness week is a NWS/NOAA/FEMA deal (under the control of the current occupant), and is held in a lot of states.  Looks like that tuition was wasted.

  8. dad29 says:

But only made into a BIG DEAL by Evers.  The last Governor of this State thought the residents understood “winter.”  Apparently that was an over-estimate.

  9. Mar says:

Well, now Dad. Liberals think that time between summer and winter is man made climate change and they have to be comforted. After all, we only have a few years left on the planet, this has to be really scary.
But don’t worry, Evers will then have another advisory in Summer, when it gets warm. More climate change, you know.

  10. Le Roi du Nord says:

    Wrongo, guys:

“Wisconsin winters can be hard to deal with at home and on the road. To encourage people to plan ahead for the snow and cold, Gov. Scott Walker has declared Nov. 5-9, 2018 as Winter Awareness Week in Wisconsin”.

  11. dad29 says:

    LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy gets one right!!  Congrats!!

As I understand it, that was sent to all (D) voters.

  12. Le Roi du Nord says:

No surprise there dud, I’m still batting 1.000.

  13. Mar says:

More like 001℅, Le Roi, even a blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while.

  14. Jason says:

More like “Even a self reported elderly alderman and public servant from some unknown northern province get a truffle at the dog park once in a while”.

  15. Le Roi du Nord says:

You guys are just jealous cuz you can’t get things right.  Envy all you want.

  16. Mar says:

Damn, Le Roi, your worse than Trump in your bragging. Not as bad as Obama, but close.

  17. Le Roi du Nord says:

No swearing marbles. And it ain’t bragging if it’s true, unlike trump.

  18. Mar says:

Wow, Le Roi, you get one thing right and go nuts. What do you iffor an encore if you are right a second time in a year?

  19. Le Roi du Nord says:

No mar, I didn’t go nuts. I’m a pretty calm guy, not prone to hyperbole.  And I have been right lots of times this year.  You, not so much.

  20. Mar says:

Ok, Le Roi, show when I have been wrong.

  21. Kevin Scheunemann says:

Le Roi never produces the evidence.

He makes accusations, libel and slander, but never produces the evidence when asked to back up his false claims.

    He is awful on that.

  22. Mar says:

jjf, Trump has been right far more often than liberals.

  23. jjf says:

What does that even mean, Mar?

  24. Le Roi du Nord says:

    k:

Except I did. See above . It is never too late to get help with your reading skills.

  25. Mar says:

jjf, I’m sorry you didn’t understand.
Simply put, liberals have been right on issues as President has been wrong with issues.
Liberals are almost always wrong on national issues, not to to mention wrong on state and local issues.
But President has been correct on most issues.
