Foxconn Denies Recruiting Chinese Workers

Frankly, I hope that they are.

Technology supplier Foxconn denied reports Tuesday that it is considering staffing its planned Wisconsin facility with Chinese workers due to the tight labor market in the state.

“We can categorically state that the assertion that we are recruiting Chinese personnel to staff our Wisconsin project is untrue,” Foxconn, which is based in Taiwan, told The Wall Street Journal in a statement.

Sources familiar with the matter had told the Journal that Foxconn may bring in personnel from China to staff the facility, given the tight American labor market.

Particularly, the source said, Foxconn Chairman Terry Ghou is searching out company engineers that would be willing to move to Wisconsin.

Ghou is reportedly struggling to find employees who would relocate so far away and is frustrated by it.

We have a labor shortage in Wisconsin. The best way to fix that is to recruit people from other states and countries to move to Wisconsin to fill those jobs, thus creating more Wisconsinites who live, work, and play in our state. It is a good thing if people want to move here – not a bad thing.

Rumor has it that there are a few thousand people coming from the south that are searching for the American dream. If history is any predictor, immigrants will help make America great again.

  2. Kevin Scheunemann says:

They are going to have to.

The labor shortage is almost a crisis thanks to Trump and Walker’s prosperity policies!

  3. Le Roi du Nord says:

But, but but…  Conservatives and their leader are in all out war with potential immigrants.  We even have troops at the border to keep them out.  The shifting ideology of the conservatives is amazing.

What happened to all the WI folks that were going to be employed at foxconn and make those big wages?  A pipe dream?

  4. Kevin Scheunemann says:

    Nord,

    Nobody is against legal immigration.

We are against unchecked, unvetted human traffickers, criminals, and unproductive coming in.

Jumping the line by thuggish over the border, rather than at a legal port of entry cannot be tolerated.

    You tolerate criminal law breaking?

  5. Pat says:

Thank God there is a vetting process.

  6. Owen Owen says:

I don’t know any conservatives who are at “war with potential immigrants.” We generally don’t like illegal immigrants (except for some of the Chamber of Commerce crowd who turn a blind eye), but we’re all for immigrants. I welcome our future Chinese-Wisconsinites.

  7. Pat says:

No one endorses illegal immigration, or open boards. America welcomes immigrants.

  8. Kevin Scheunemann says:

    Pat,

What about California Dems that support the right of illegal immigrants to vote, get drivers licenses, and public benefits?

    Oh and those “sanctuary cities”?

We are all dumber for what you just said.

  9. Pat says:

Please provide information where anyone is endorsing open boarders and illegal immigration.

You’re talking about something completely different from what I said, again. I don’t think you need any help in the dumb department.

    Really, Owen?

If the USA is indeed a ‘propositional’ country (see the Declaration) then people who are here merely to staff positions in some factory are not going to become “Wisconsinites.”

Either one immigrates because one seeks to live in the US for its form of government and its promise of life, liberty, pursuit of happiness under the laws of Nature and Nature’s God…..or one is merely here as a feeder at the trough (whether ‘earning’ or not.)

  11. MHMaley says:

Fill me in on which / who or what Nature’s God you you are making reference to .

As for the Governor , he’s a 3 day old newspaper as is the AG .

Hard to imagine how the 2 least charismatic Democratic candidates for
Higher office in America beat the foes of Godless, Socialist Progressivism .
    But they just did .

  12. Le Roi du Nord says:

Better make sure Nature’s God is in tune with the Absolute Truth.

  13. dad29 says:

You can look it up, Maley.  You’re a big boy now.  Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeroy, you’re irrelevant here.

  14. Le Roi du Nord says:

It’s the King to you, dud.

  15. jjf says:

“Labor shortage”?  That makes it sound like we’re not getting enough rain.  How about “wage shortage”?

Wouldn’t a free market approach also remind us that if employers improved the appeal of their offer in the form of wages, benefits, and working conditions, they’d attract workers from any other part of the country?

  16. MHMaley says:

If I’m looking for any scientific evidence of Nature’s God , I’m going to be doing so for the rest of my Natural life ( and yours ).

  17. dad29 says:

If you were actually looking.  But you are not.

  18. jjf says:

Geeze, who derailed this Foxconn discussion into evidence for a deity?

Don’t you know it’s time to declare that all of Foxconn’s problems are now Evers, and absolve Walker and the WisGOP of any ineptitude?

That’s in the past, now is a time for healing, and apparently also a time to remove powers from the office of the Governor!
