Yes Virginia, There Are Cowards

There’s no other word for it.

(CNN)When Nikolas Cruz started shooting last week at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, an armed deputy stationed at the Florida school rushed to the building.

But instead of going inside, the officer waited outside for four minutes as the gunman killed students and faculty inside, authorities said.
School resource officer Scot Peterson never went in, despite taking a position on the west side of Building 12, where most of the carnage happened, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said Thursday.

I don’t know if I would have entered the building but I am not an armed, trained police officer.  This may be worse than the FBI dropping the ball.

At least here, the Police Chief has acknowledge the cowardice.  In Orlando, the police stormed the building and then waited 3 hours to end the conflict.  The result was ‘not our fault.’  Similar refrains came from Aurora, Virginia Tech and the Washington Navy Shipyard.

So what law will the ‘gun grabbers’ propose to prevent cowardice?  Time and again the incompetent bureaucracy has not gotten it right on background checks, updating information database or acting on pertinent information but all I hear is ‘ban guns.’  Adding more laws when the ones we have are handled by morons makes no sense.

Apparently, it’s four who stood and did nothing.

But yeah, let’s get rid of the NRA/Enterprise discount.

This story just keeps getting worse.  Did someone above these line officers tell them to stand down?  That’s what happened at the Pulse nightclub massacre when the police withdrew and gave the gunman 3 hours to continue killing people.

So, and someone help me here if I miss something, the FBI blew it completely.  30-40 tips?  The Broward County Sheriff blew it completely.  Tips to School Officer and Department.  And Cruz’s mother completely blew it.  As a fourth grader, the kid had been killing squirrels, then advanced to chickens, rabbits and other animals.  Neighbors complained and to quote one article,  “Every few weeks, it seemed, police cruisers were pulling up to the teenager’s house to sort out the latest complaint.”

So we have a dysfunctional system managed by incompetent bureaucrats that fails to address the root problem and the proposed solution is more gun laws on top of the ones we already have.

Sounds to me like we’re still living in Obama’s shadow.

How much do the brave need to be paid, per hour?  How many schools?  How many per school?  All the schools, or just the high schools?  All the entrances?
