Marc J. Marotta, chairman of the BMO Harris Bradley Center board, died Wednesday.

He was 52.

Sources said Marotta died of an apparent heart attack Wednesday afternoon. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office was notified of Marotta’s death at 2:50 p.m. by Milwaukee Police, who said he was pronounced death outside a downtown athletic club. An official at the examiner’s office could not confirm that Marotta had been inside the club before he died.

Marotta, a partner and business lawyer with Foley & Lardner, was a former Department of Administration secretary under Gov. Jim Doyle. He also served on the boards of Summerfest — Milwaukee World Festival and Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee.
