DOJ Defends the Obvious

It’s a shame that the taxpayers are having to waste their money to defend the obvious in court.

“While Act 1 permits workers to opt out of union membership or paying dues and assessments, it does not require unions to perform any specific services beyond the negotiation of a collective bargaining agreement,” the state wrote.

“Beyond the duty of fair representation, the services provided by unions result from the unions’ choice, not from any statutory obligation.”
