The guy was not raised in America. His formative years were in Indonesia with a muslim stepfather and his father was a Kenyan who despised the British and Americans. Add in a mother who was a 1960’s hippie and that’s going to leave a mark. He’s not a guy comfortable asserting American leadership or influence anywhere in the world.
