Madison to Fine Businesses for Leaving Doors Open

Do you begin to see how the Global Warming/Climate Change jihad is all about controlling people? It can be used as justification for all sorts of Nanny State lunacy.

Madison businesses that leave their doors or windows open too long while running air conditioners could be fined under an ordinance to be introduced next week in the local fight against climate change.

Except in emergencies or when people or goods are going into or out of a business, “it shall be unlawful to keep open any door or window of a building or structure with a commercial use while an air conditioner is operating,” according to the proposed ordinance authored by Ald. Ledell Zellers, 2nd District.

The fine for a first-offense fine would be $50, rising to $100 for a second offense. Any third or subsequent offenses would cost $250, and “each day or portion thereof such violation continues shall be considered a separate offense,” the ordinance says.

Madison Mayor Paul Soglin said the proposal “makes sense.”

Well, of course The Brainless One would think so.

    But wait!

If all that mechanically cooled air is escaping out into the sizzling streets of Madscow, isn’t that combating “global warming”?

To complete the grins, read the story linked to in the the last paragraph of the above story, regarding Madscow fining folks for idling for more than 5 minutes….

The sole citation came Sept. 4 against a Florida truck in the 6300 block of Raymond Road, said Julie Laundrie, public records custodian for the Madison Police Department.

Think that Florida Man criminal paid up?   So, MPD cops are standing/sitting around, just waiting to catch idle idlers.  Good use of resources.

I guess no one can cool off in the liberal hell known as Madison.

Madison, as the devil, throwing its small business owners into the boiling cauldron is an apt meme right now.

The liberal hell should be defunded.

  3. jjf

Do you leave the doors open at your establishments, Kevin?  If an employee did that, what would you tell them?

  4. Kevin Scheunemann

    JJF,

    What difference does that make?

I do not “leave my doors wide open”.

However, there is a diffrence between me choosing not to do that, and liberal draconian policy PROHIBITING me from doing that.

Why doesn’t liberal Madison focus on something more important…like crime, government waste, and curing the disease of liberalism in the community?

  5. Le Roi du Nord

It sure is odd that you self-proclaimed “conservatives” would be in favor of wasting money by leaving the doors open.

  6. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

IF business strategy in a lifestyle mall of heavily walked corridor made the business more inviting by having an open air entrance…it is a “no brainer” to do it.

Making your business inviting, and reducing the barriers for the customers to enter your business, is GOOD marketing.

Did you get your business acumen from a box of Cracker Jack?

  7. Le Roi du Nord

There are lots of ways to solve that problem.  But that really doesn’t make sense to wasteful folks like yourself.  All whine, no substance.

    >It sure is odd that you self-proclaimed “conservatives” would be in favor of wasting money by leaving the doors open.

Do you have anything to bring to the adult conversations besides red herrings?

    Breaking News:

Madscow Ald. Zippy The Pinhead, 66th district, has proposed a new ordinance that requires, “ all future MCC meetings be removed from room 210 to the sidewalks outside the City-County building anytime the building’s air conditioning system is engaged to prevent said AC system from wasting precious energy trying to counteract all the aldemanic hot air expelled within the building.”

Ald. Ledell Zellers, 2nd District, said she could not vote for the ordinance. “The word ‘aldermanic’ is sexist, misogynistic, and patriarchal,” Zellers said.

Like the local LEOs have time for enforcing crap like this. Maybe the meter maids can cruise the back alleys looking for open windows and doorways in their spare time. What’s next? Fining little old granny over there for having an under inflated tire on her Camry?

  11. dad29

Did you get your business acumen from a box of Cracker Jack?

K, in what “business” did LeeeeeeeeeRoy gain “acumen”?  Everything he posts smells of Public “servant.”  You know–the Entitled Class where other people’s money is an endless stream….

  12. jjf

Surely this ordinance seems like nitpicky overreach, but can no one bother to think of other examples similar to this?  Can’t think of any city that’s made stupid rules for businesses to follow?

  13. dad29

My S-I-L’s hi-tech biz left Madistan about 10 years ago; they’re now safely across the border in Middleton (or wherever, who cares…..)  He also sold the house there and moved north of town.

Wasn’t hard to smell the direction of that town.  Pity the remaining businesses.

  14. Le Roi du Nord

    dud:

At least when I worked for the state we were smart enough to keep the cold inside in the summer, and heat inside in the winter. Some goes at my home. If you want to waste you $$ heating/cooling the outdoors, have at it.  My utility stocks will benefit.

What is puzzling is that you so-called conservatives are all in on wasting $$ and resources.  Or are you just opposed to common sense?

  15. dad29

We are pleased to know that you kept the doors closed on OUR buildings.  Your Mom and Dad are also pleased, I’m sure.

Your reading impairment continues to shine forth; no one has endorsed wasting hot or cold air with an open-door policy, LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy.  But have fun with your straw men and women and binaries, and fluids, and all those others who should be in Southern Colony.

  16. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

Many of these “open air entrance” businesses have things called “air curtains” which create a HVAC barrier to each environment that people just walk through.

Maybe you crusty liberals should get with the times and look into technology.

I have air curtains in my business that activate when door is opened, to help both heating and cooling and to keep any flying insects out.

…but, I guess you oppose health and safety because it is extra energy….

  17. dad29

No, K.  LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy approves of ANY Gummint rule, reg, or initiative, no matter how insane.  Yes, he’d oppose health and safety, like concealed carry–but if the Gummint mandated concealed carry, LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy would approve.

See, as an ex-Gummint employee, LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy was part of the Enlightened.  You and I, on the other hand, are Deplorables.

  18. Kevin Scheunemann

    Dad29,

I can see it now…I’ll tell the health inspector I am “woke” (powering down the air curtins for “green efficiency”) when she bitches there is a fly or 2 in the store.

Somehow, I don’t think that liberal puke position will keep it off my helath inspection report!

  19. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

Like I said, there are lots of ways to solve that problem.  I’m glad you took advantage of the technology.

    dud:

You are truly clueless.  Or is it classless? Or both?

  20. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

    Talk about retracting your position.

    Wow.

  21. Le Roi du Nord

Nope, no retraction.  You are lying again.  Does it make you feel better, or is it pathology?

  22. Kevin Scheunemann

So you support Madson’s position to clamp down on open air entrances?

Getting mixed signals from you again.

  23. dad29

    There’s a pathology in play here.  And it’s not Kevin’s nor mine….

  24. jjf

Pathology?  You must be hinting at how conservatives are able to ignore Trump.

As a friend put it when he saw the unveiling of Ryan’s official portrait, “I thought it would be looking the other way.”

  25. Kevin Scheunemann

    jjf,

Let’s focus on the liberal dictators in Madison, not liberal fever swamp talking points.

    Focus.

  26. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

I support energy conservation and wise use of our resources.  If closing the doors accomplishes that goal, then I support it.

And I would like to hear more about the liberal dictators in Madison.  All the evidence, facts and observations show that the leadership in Madison is elected by the voters according to state statute.  If you know of illegal activities resulting in  a dictatorship in Madison, please share with your loyal followers.  Thanks.

  27. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

Wouldn’t abolishing DNR produce energy conservation?

  28. Le Roi du Nord

Why, did walker keep the doors open?  He did scrub CC/GW from state documents, and forbid discussing it, so getting rid of him is certainly a step forward.

  29. Kevin Scheunemann

    Nord,

You failed to answer the question, which is “yes”.

You are against conservation by defending the energy wasted on DNR.

  30. jjf

I don’t get the joke, Dad29.  What makes saying “LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeRoy” so funny?

  31. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

How so?  Please, use facts to defend your claim. No more lies.

    Thanks.

  32. Kevin Scheunemann

Let’s take the Park Entrance shack to Mauthie Lake. All it does is collect money from park goers. We shut that down, we would conserve energy, right?

  33. Le Roi du Nord

Closing the DQ would probably save more.
