Kewaskum School Board Listens to the People

Not.

KEWASKUM — Twelve days after electors rejected the $9.76 million tax levy for the 2014-15 school year at the annual meeting Aug. 27, School Board members passed the tax levy at its meeting Monday night.

At the annual meeting Superintendent James Smasal said the district needs short-term borrowing and money can’t be borrowed unless the School Board sets the tax levy.

School Board Clerk Mary Miller made a motion to adopt the $9.76 million tax levy and it passed by a six-vote majority. Trustee Jim Leister abstained.
