Obama Administration Sends Letter to Wrong French President

Oh, man

Sadly, the French media is reporting as true that Barack Obama sent a letter to the President of France pledging support and friendship. His actual words were

“I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four years, in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world.”

There’s just one problem: he sent it to the wrong guy. That’s right. Barack Obama sent the letter to the former President of France, not the present President.

Here’s the source.  It’s in French, as you would expect.

Hat tip Real Debate.

  1. I really hope this wrong.  Otherwise, this has to be one of the stupidist of all the stupid moves Obama has done.  If true, it is truly embarassing.  I hope there are other sources because I can’t believe any administration would be this stupid.

  2. It wouldn’t surprise me the way he’s been handling foreign relations so far.

  3. Dan you can’t believe any administration would be so stupid??  Let me give you a couple of other recent gaffs.  Such as giving the russians a red button, i think it was suppose to resemble a red button for firing a nuke, but it was supposed to say “Reset” in Russian as to reset our relationship with them.  But it actually said overcharge.  There is some audio on that with Hillary.

Also, how about when Britain’s PM came to the United States for there first face-to-face meeting.  Generally, they exchange gifts, I can’t remember exactly what they gave obama, but it was made out of wood from an old ship, and might have been the same wood used for obama’s desk, not positive on that, but a thoughtful gift none-the-less.  Obama gives him 20-25 dvds of american movies.  A stupid gift in my point of view, but the problem is they were region 1 instead of region 2, long story short, they weren’t in the proper formatting to work on european dvd players.

And thats just a few of the blunders, not to mention obama’s secret letters to Russia.

  4. Isn’t France’s current president more conservative that his predecessor?  That might explain why: Obama certainly doesn’t recognize conservative voices or opinions in his own nation you expect him to do so internationally?

  5. This seems like a “non-story” to me - now if Sarah Palin had done this, there would be such a frenzy that we would think World War III was imminent.  How scary that she could have been a “heart-beat” away from being President, and then we would have had to worry about her doing this kind of stuff.

  10. Give them credit Keith.  With what we’ve seen in the past 55 days something like this is well within the realm of possibility.

I especially liked the red button that said overcharge.  More pathetic…

  11. Here’s the problem, leftys.  Why is Obama communicating with the former president and saying they are going to work with him?  This IS a slap in the face to the current preident of France.  Now, that is really stupid.

  12. Yeah, Keith.  You are the Intertubes most prolific talking point regurgitator…

Did you ever find the 72 votes where John McCain voted against women that I challenged you to find last fall?  Didn’t MoveOn provide that in their e-mail?

  14. Keith,

I have yet to see a denial out of the administration.  I will grant you that I may be misinterpreting the paper.  After all, I don’t speak French and am relying on a babelfish translation.  Still, this has been all over the internet and I haven’t seen any reliable counter.  When/If I do, I’ll admit being misled.  Will you do the same about Obama?

  20. Nothing about this is particularly shocking, the truly sad part is that we elected this idiot. How any of you lefties can trust this “special olympian” to make decisions regarding our economy or our foreign policy is beyond me. This truly is retribution for all of the crap we had to take about Bush’s intellect.

Mark my words, ths is only going to get better!
