MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Latest on a rally at the Wisconsin Capitol by Latinos and immigrants against a pair of bills they say are divisive (all times local):
11:45 a.m.A pair of teenagers from Beloit are among the estimated thousands of people rallying at the Capitol in Madison over legislation seen as aimed at immigrants.
They’re upset by a pair of Republican bills. One would block cities from keeping police officers from asking a person’s immigration status. The other would keep cities and counties from issuing local IDs.
Both of those bills are utterly reasonable. No, cities shouldn’t prevent their officers from asking if someone is legally in the country. It is their job to enforce the law – including our immigration laws. And the other bill doesn’t ban cities from issuing local IDs. It forces them to make it clear that the local ID is not valid for voting or getting state benefits – both of which is already the law. Note that neither of these bills have any impact whatsoever on LEGAL immigrants.
My guess is that most Hispanics here legally will boycott the rally/liberal kissy face.
Once again, liberals show they have no clue about immigration and how to handle it. The liberals are just plain stupid…on just about every issue but especially immigration.
Just wondering, will the pope be there?
