WHO: Lockdowns Make “Poor People and Awful Lot Poorer”

Some of us have been saying this for going on eight months now.

The World Health Organisation has backflipped on its original COVID-19 stance after calling for world leaders to stop locking down their countries and economies.

Dr. David Nabarro from the WHO appealed to world leaders yesterday, telling them to stop “using lockdowns as your primary control method” of the coronavirus.

He also claimed that the only thing lockdowns achieved was poverty – with no mention of the potential lives saved.

“Lockdowns just have one consequence that you must never ever belittle, and that is making poor people an awful lot poorer,” he said.

“We in the World Health Organisation do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus,” Dr Nabarro told The Spectator.

“The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganise, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted, but by and large, we’d rather not do it.”

What particularly is shameful is when Democrat governors shut down their economies for political reasons, for instance, to sabotage President Trump.

I’m being generous when I call that outcome an (un)intended consequence.

So I was just reading the Biden plan.  With all his plan calls for, I can’t imagine it costing less than 2-3 trillion/year.  Unsurprisingly, it does not directly call for shutting down the economy, even though the experts he says he will listen to have been calling for just that and he is on record as saying he would have shut it down immediately on a national level.  Even as it does not directly call for a new shutdown, however, it does call for paying unemployment for everyone affected by Covid (and all OT for any medical and related field workers), capped at 1,400/week (or over 72K/year).  It calls for paying for all Covid related costs for everyone inside the borders of the US.  It calls for creating potentially tens of thousands of new Government jobs to run the Covid recovery, a bunch of future jobs to have a large staff on hand to fight any future diseases, training the military and reserves to help in future medical crises, the list goes on and on and on.  And on.

We’ll just put it in the hands of the professionals.  You know the doctor’s who now require multiple testing on every malady because of  fear of law suits.   I can see it now…

‘Oh you may have a broken arm?  Let’s just make sure you don’t have any of the diseases of the month first, before we set that okay?  And let’s do an X-ray and CT scan.  Wouldn’t want to set the wrong bone right?  Heh, heh.  But don’t worry the Government will pay for all the disease testing, so you won’t pay for that…’

I saw a doctor for about 6 minutes for a bowel blockage a few years ago that put me in a hospital overnight.  Just the doctor pay portion was $12,000 and change, so over 120,000/hour.  I wonder how much he would receive for OT in Biden’s America.

And if we want to read the Trump plan…  oh, wait, the GOP didn’t even bother with making a platform this year.

I don’t know about platform, I don’t read about the Republican Party (though it used to happen a lot in the past that parties did not update their platforms much at all for years, and most people thought of that as consistency.  Different era now, I guess).

However, I am still just as happy that they are not making long term national policies concerning illnesses as  IT IS NOT THEIR JOB!  (Yet)

In January, I would have said there was probably not much  difference between a Clinton and Trump Presidency.  They were both lying, gold-digging profiteers and it would just have been a difference in where they enriched themselves from.  However, considering how Clinton would have treated a health scare, I would now say with some confidence that Trump was a luckier choice for the majority of people legally in the US.

Gee, jjf and the other liberal jackasses are now silent on this issue.
Even though they strongly supported lockdowns and the continued use of lockdowns.
jjf said we should stay lockeddown until there was a vaccine was developed when the virus was starting.
    Now he is silent.
But is would just save 1 life, right jjf?
