Fight the Virus, Not the People

Indeed.

Thousands of scientists and health experts have joined a global movement warning of “grave concerns” about Covid-19 lockdown policies.

Nearly 6,000 experts, including dozens from the UK, say the approach is having a devastating impact on physical and mental health as well as society.

They are calling for protection to be focused on the vulnerable, while healthy people get on with their lives.

[…]

But the movement – known as the Great Barrington Declaration – mirrors some of the warnings in a letter signed by a group of GPs in the UK.

Sixty-six GPs, including TV doctors Dr Phil Hammond and Dr Rosemary Leonard and a number of medics who have held senior roles at the British Medical Association, have written to the health secretary, saying there is insufficient emphasis on “non-Covid harms” in the decision-making.

    Marxists can’t help themselves.

What happens when Marxists are a virus?

  2. Mar

Seems like most of the lockdowns and keeping businesses and schools closed are in in Democrat and RINO states.
There is no reason why schools and businesses should be closed now, not to mention churches.
Most of the continued lock down is to make President Trump look bad.
Most of the lockdowns were political or incompetence, after the first 3 weeks of the pandemic.

What happens when Marxists are a virus?

What happens when people view their neighbors & fellow-citizens as nothing more than a disease?

  4. jjf

Well, penquin, at some point you start yelling “BUY MORE AMMO!!!!” and daydreaming about shooting your neighbors.

“Well, penquin, at some point you start yelling “BUY MORE AMMO!!!!” and daydreaming about shooting your neighbors.”
Is that what you do jjf?

  6. Le Roi du Nord

It is tough to buy ammo now, at least around here.  All the anarchists, militias, and “conservatives” have scooped it all up and hoarding it.   Great news for the manufacturers bottom line, but not so good for the recreational shooter and hunter.  Good thing I reload everything but 22LR.

  7. Kevin Scheunemann

    penquin, jjf,

How do you view people that covet they neighbors property openly and demand they get it by government force?

  8. Le Roi du Nord

    k:

How do you view people that commit adultery, and pay to keep it quiet ?

  9. penquin

How do you view people that covet they neighbors property openly and demand they get it by government force?

I still view ’em as people, not as a disease.

  10. dad29

All the anarchists, militias, and “conservatives” have scooped it all up and hoarding it.

    Only partly right, as usual.

There are a lot of rounds available to anarchist/Burn Loot Murder crowds–and their drug-lord compatriots.  Read any big-city newspaper to learn that every night another several dozen rounds are used in ‘drive-by’ and other shootings.

And yes, conservatives have a nice pile, too.  Heh.

You know more about “militias” than I do.  Can you document your claim about them?

  11. dad29

    But then there is this:

Apparently following Fauci’s advice does not impress the NEJM editors.  Who could have guessed?

Are masks still useless, as their May 10 issue proved?

  12. penquin

Are masks still useless, as their May 10 issue proved?

You sure about that? ’cause it appears that the NEJM didn’t publish an edition on May 10th.

  13. Pat

“How do you view people that covet they neighbors property openly and demand they get it by government force?“

Ask the Native American that question.

  14. Le Roi du Nord

When asked by a reporter if he was concerned about a pandemic, trump responded (1-22-2020):

““No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s — going to be just fine.”

  15. Mar

    Creative response Pat.

  16. MjM

Nazi Nort forgets easily: “When asked by a reporter if he was concerned about a pandemic…”

    … Dr Fauchi responded, (Jan 21, 2020),

“This not a major threat for the people of the United States, and this is not something that the citizens of the United States right now should be worried about.”

  17. dad29

Dr. Fraudchi advised Trump on what to do, how to do it, when to do it……and Nort of the Roi posts some editorial from NEJM bitching about it.

They should take it up with Fraudchi………..

  18. Mar

Umm, did Fauchi use those words? Were those his quotes?
Too bad they used his words. But he is a public official, speaking in public settings.
    Get over it little man.

  19. penquin

    Yah, that one.

Nope, not that one. Nowhere in the article that you linked does it prove that masks are useless.

Did you have a different study in mind? Or did you mis-read this one?

  20. Mar

“We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection”
    Yah, that one.

  21. Kevin Scheunemann

    Pequin,

So you support giving openly covetous people power?

Not only is the coveting evil, but openly embracing the evil, makes you a supporter of the coveting evil as well.

  22. penquin

So you support giving openly covetous people power?

I don’t recall saying any such thing – can you please quote my exact words which leads you to think I did.

That aside – I am curious by what you meant with your earlier statement. By labeling an entire group of people as a “virus”, is it safe to assume that you wish to see them eradicated & completely wiped out? Please clarify if that’s not the case…thanks

  23. penquin

    Yah, that one.

Nope, that lil’ statement doesn’t prove anything one-way-or-the-other about masks being useless. And if you read further into the article, they also make mention how masks are useful.

  24. jjf

But Penquin!  They’re only looking for news items that support their preconceptions and desired outcome.  You know:  Internet ReSeArcH!

  25. Mar

That’s a pretty big statement, penquin. Useless is a pretty strong statement.
Further from the article: “What is clear, however, is that universal masking alone is not a panacea. A mask will not protect providers caring for a patient with active Covid-19 if it’s not accompanied by meticulous hand hygiene, eye protection, gloves, and a gown. A mask alone will not prevent health care workers with early Covid-19 from contaminating their hands and spreading the virus to patients and colleagues”
I’m not sure what article you are reading, but I don’t think we are reading the same article.

  26. Mar

And jjf again adds nothing to the conversation.

  27. Kevin Scheunemann

When you view openly covetous Marxist ideology as to be rewarded instead of an ideological disease of sin.

  28. penquin

When you view openly covetous Marxist ideology as to be rewarded

Just to be clear – you’re saying that I am “rewarding” these people that you view to be nothing more than a virus ’cause I view them as, well, people?

Thanks for sharing your opinion – it has been very insightful.

  29. penquin

I’m not sure what article you are reading, but I don’t think we are reading the same article.

Seems that way, ’cause the one the article that is linked doesn’t prove that masks are useless…which is the original claim that was made.

What article are you reading that does prove masks are useless? Would like to see what ya’ll are talking about…

  30. Mar

    See the quote above.
It helps some people psychologically but that’s it.
Will they stop large droplets? Sure but viruses are not large droplets.
If you want to wear a mask, go for it but don’t say masks work, unless they are medical grade.

  31. penquin

    See the quote above.

I did read it. Did you? ’cause not only does it not say that masks are “useless”, it also doesn’t prove anything at all.

  32. Jason

    >They’re only looking for news items that support their preconceptions and desired outcome.  You know:  Internet ReSeArcH!

Says the guy that thinks the rise in Covid positivity test results is due to all the non-wearing mask conservatives he has seen at his local Walmart.  You use Occam’s broom far more than anyone here dummy.

  33. Tuerqas

    But then there is this:
    https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMe2029812

Yeah, I guess it matters on what the media is trying to prove, doesn’t it?  Most countries want to downplay how much impact a pandemic had in their countries, want to show off their strength and efficiency.  They might, for instance, not count all of the tests, maybe leave out a province here or metropolis there.  Numbers massage so easily, don’t they?  No one knew abut Chernobyl until Sweden started demanding why there were clouds of poison in their air.  At least everyone outside the USSR knew that Pravda lied all the time.  Liberals seem to think that China tells the world the truth about what happens in their country.  How suicidally naive do you have to be?

If both parties in the US had an interest in playing down the virus, we wouldn’t be blocking and twisting half of the information all of the time.  We wouldn’t be classifying things like stage 4 cancers as Covid related deaths.  In fact, we may list the pre-exisitng malady as the the cause of death in all cases.  We would be counting all tests every day instead of less than half.  We wouldn’t be saying nationally that nothing is being done (because Government isn’t behind it), we would be getting updates from private test labs and pharmaceutical companies on the progress of vaccines.  And if Biden is elected we will begin hearing it immediately, but only as if it had just started because he was elected (though it has been going on throughout the entire Covid scare).

In a contest between a Government run health lab versus a private pharmaceutical company, my money would be on the ones who would make billions for a solution every time.

  34. jjf

Jason, do you even live in Wisconsin?  What have you seen?  You get out much?  Go to work every day?  Go out at night?

  35. Jason

But Everyone!  Foust is only looking for news items that support his preconceptions and desired outcome.  You know:  He shops at WaLmArT!
