Lifting of Stay at Home Order Does Not Lead to Covid Outbreak

Sooooo…. there’s a study.

Both the White House and state governors have explicitly linked thresholds of reduced COVID-19 case growth to the lifting of statewide shelter-in-place orders (SIPOs). This “hardwired” policy endogeneity creates empirical challenges in credibly isolating the causal effect of lifting a statewide SIPO on COVID-19-related health. To break this simultaneity problem, the current study exploits a unique natural experiment generated by a Wisconsin Supreme Court decision. On May 13, 2020, the Wisconsin Supreme Court abolished the state’s “Safer at Home” order, ruling that the Wisconsin Department of Health Services unconstitutionally usurped legislative authority to review COVID-19 regulations. We capitalize on this sudden, dramatic, and largely unanticipated termination of a statewide SIPO to estimate its effect on social distancing and COVID-19 case growth. Using a synthetic control design, we find no evidence that the repeal of the state SIPO impacted social distancing, COVID-19 cases, or COVID-19-related mortality during the fortnight following enactment. Estimated effects were economically small and nowhere near statistically different from zero. We conclude that the impact of shelter-in-place orders is likely not symmetric across enactment and lifting of the orders.

The shutting down states is proving to be a hoax.
In places where there are still lock downs like LA and NYC, where are still lockdowns, those mayors encourage the protesting.
So, either the Chinese virus really wasn’t that serious and the blue states governors played it up or these same governor and mayors really don’t give a crap about the protestors and the politicians know that of these protesters will die of the Chinese virus.

  2. Kevin Scheunemann

Sick liberals support busting chuch doors down in 10 or more gather together,

But rioters loot and burn the church down in close proximity to each other, liberal reaction is….”nothing to see here. Move along”.

    Cancer, thy name is liberalism.

  3. Le Roi du Nord

“busting church doors down”. Really, show us your source of that hyperbole.

But using tear gas on peaceful protesters is ok. Your authoritarian panties are showing again, k.

  4. Kevin Scheunemann

IF rioters are breaking law…tear gas is a kindness TO LAW ABIDING SOCIETY!!!!

  5. Mar

I wonder when Le Roi and jjf will admit that they were suckered by Herr Evers and other mostly democrat governors and mayors regarding the lockdowns.
Will jjf and Le Roi finally admit they were wrong…again?

  6. Le Roi du Nord

The article you supplied proves you are lying. You didn’t read past the headline did you?

Have you ever been subjected to tear gas? Bet you wouldn’t like it. And apparently the peaceful protesters in Lafayette Square we law abiding citizens.

And you have the nerve to call others “fascists “.

  7. Mar

Pathological Liar Le Roi at it again, lying.
From the Park police: “At approximately 6:33 pm, violent protestors on H Street NW began throwing projectiles including bricks, frozen water bottles and caustic liquids,” the USPP said in a statement. “The protestors also climbed onto a historic building at the north end of Lafayette Park that was destroyed by arson days prior. Intelligence had revealed calls for violence against the police, and officers found caches of glass bottles, baseball bats and metal poles hidden along the street.”
As far as being tear gassed, yeah it sucks, but as you would say, it’s their own damn fault.

  8. Le Roi du Nord

And you didn’t read it either. You’re even in the wrong time zone. Pretty foolish move for one as highly educated as you.

  9. Mar

Oh, poor, poor, poor little Liar Le Roi.
The park was the scene of extreme violence the of extreme violence the night before. This was caused by a bunch of thugs who don’t care about anyone except themselves.
Then you had the curfew fast approaching. Those police officials clearing the park didn’t want those poor misunderstood thugs to break the law by violating the curfew.
So, the police did them a favor by kicking their butts out of the park before the curfew and before the cops had to arrest them for violating curfew.
That’s really not that hard to understand.

  10. Le Roi du Nord

Had you read what k posted you, as highly educated as you are, would have realized that k was talking about a situation in Chicago, not in DC.

    Foolish error on your part.

Of course tear gas is a necessary part of presidential protection. Especially when leftist protestors are part of the calculus.

Greek riot police used tear gas and stun grenades Tuesday in Athens to disperse about 3,000 left-wing marchers protesting a visit by President Obama after they tried to enter an area off-limits to demonstrators.

Left-wing and anarchist groups who organized the protest had planned to reach the U.S. embassy in Athens. But authorities banned demonstrations in a large swath of the city to ensure that protesters came nowhere near Mr. Obama, who was attending a dinner at the residence of Greek President Procopis Pavlopoulos.

Have you ever been subjected to tear gas? Bet you wouldn’t like it

Lots of dead hippies must be rolling in their graves & old boomers reliving their days of glory have to be shaking their heads at what a bunch of snow flake pu**ies you KOS Kids have turned out to be. I came of age in that era – eating tear gas was a badge of honor – at least according to those that I knew that claimed to be part of that and retold their “war” stories.

  13. jjf

    Caustic liquids?  Probably Gatorade.

  14. Mar

Gee Le Roi, I thought you were talking about the Lafayette Park incident.
Glad you were ok with that, the cops throwing the thugs out of the park.

  15. Le Roi du Nord

Gee mar, maybe you should read before stuffing your foot in your mouth up to the knee. Doesn’t enhance your self-promotion.

And yet you persist in spreading falsehoods. Own up to your repetitive screw ups.

  16. Mar

Le Roi, I just use what you give me.
You must hate it when I use your thoughts and words against you.

  17. Le Roi du Nord

You screwed up again and won’t admit it.  Not very becoming of someone so highly educated as yourself.  But no one expects any better of you.

And it was k who supplied the link, not me.  Geez,  you are struggling today.
