Evers Issues Another Arbitrary Edict

Oh, THANK YOU, King Evers, your most Excellent Highness, for this amazing concession. Grovel, grovel, grovel

MADISON (WLUK) — The state will now allow nonessential businesses to do curbside drop-off of goods and animals amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Gov. Tony Evers’ office says the change will allow businesses such as dog groomers, small engine repair shops and upholstery businesses to reopen. It also provides for outdoor recreational rentals such as boats, golf carts, kayaks and ATVs. Automatic and self-serve car washes will also be able to operate.

Businesses must be able to operate free of contact with customers by taking payments online or over the phone, properly disinfect surfaces and operate with only one staff member.

Yet another arbitrary and capricious edict emanating from Madison. This is not what self-governance looks like.

The dog’s butt can get a shave, but not my overgrown head of hair?

I am done enforcing this mangled pile of nonsense locally.

  2. Pat

    But what looks better?

  3. dad29

Evers is wandering around with no real plan and no clue.  He’s going to kill off the tourist season Up Nort’  because the City of Milwaukee has a problem.

    Oh, well.

  4. Kevin Scheunemann

    Pat,

Tough call.  I am not exactly “pretty”.

  5. Pat

    Don’t sell yourself short.

    How was the meeting?

  6. Kevin Scheunemann

    Pat,

It was very civil and very in depth.   It was a very good discussion.   The vote to undo local ordinance emergency power was defeated 5 to 2.   Emergency Power Ordinance stands for enforcement.   I was one of 2 to vote to rescind.

A much more aggressive approach from our County leaders to open would have greatly helped.

In the end, I was hopeful this was going to get done, but I am only 1 of seven and elected bodies can be unpredictable…and that happpened tonight.

I can at least get sleep tonight, knowing I did right thing to my conscience.

  7. Pat

What was the reasoning of the majority?

  8. Merlin

Those unlimited lifetime car wash certificates were evidently a big hit around the Gov’s mansion.

    Suckers.

  9. Kevin Scheunemann

    Pat,

Mainly worry when bars open that out of towners would flood in and Police Chief would be hamstrung. Essentially, begging the need for better County Leadership.

There were similar arguments that led back to failure of County and legislative leadership to be more aggressive on this. Probably some fear of acting too quickly.

We meet the old standard: “flatten the curve” for opening, and new standard for opening: “14 days with less cases”. We have 27 days of ZERO cases in a row. Health department arguing just not enough testing yet…well that is argument for nearly indefinite closure. There will never be enough tests.

So I don’t know what the hell the opening standard is for Village of Kewaskum now, other than to wait for County and legislative officials to do anything.

This standard for opening is a moving “gotcha”. I am quite dismayed at what this has turned into.

The death nail was driven through several Kewaskum businesses tonight from my humble perspective. That part makes me disheartened.

I have a question for Kevin.
Let’s suppose a sudden outbreak of the the Chinese virus hits Kewaskum.
Would your local EMS handle the outbreak?
Would your closest hospital handle it and if they could not, could the local hospital take the patients to larger hospitals in Milwaukee,Appleton, Oshkosh and other big cities?
Does Kewaskum have a plan in case there is a outbreak there?

  11. Mar

As a former firefighter and EMT, I like to listen to the police scanner and through an app, I get to listen to Milwaukee County Fire Depts, their dispatch and fire channels.
While listening, Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, Franklin and I think West Allis fire Departments all have special ambulances to transport possible Chinese virus victims to local hospitals.
None have been turned away from the local hospitals, and these ambulances are constantly on the go.
Yes, it is a snap shop in time, but it certainly lends credence that Milwaukee area hospitals are not overwhelmed by the Chinese virus. If someone needs a hospital bed in Milwaukee County due to the Chinese virus, there is plenty of room.

  12. Mar

So, jjf, do you support opening up the State of Wisconsin or not?
Hospitals are not being over run.
EMS is dealing with the problems of emergency transports.
You should be screaming to the skies to open up Wisconsin.
All your concerns have been taken care of.
    So, jjf, what is it?
    Are you a Democrat stooge?
Or are you a man of your word?

  13. Kevin Scheunemann

    Mar,

That is for local health department to handle.

There is no stopping the virus.

The closure was to “flatten the curve” to prevent initial wave from overwhelming health care system. We have done that.

I think far more people carry this than is known, even in Kewaskum.

The goal of closure is not to prevent infection, but get to point where medical can handle case load.

If we are closed until cure or vaccine is found, then we are talking years, and business is dead, and depression will set in worse than 1930s with rampant suicides, starvation, poverty, and chaos. That will cause many more lives than virus itself. I’m against costing more lives in that manner. I’m against establishing a liberal/progressive/communist hell!

Do you notice all the green radical leftists cheering closure? The communist virus makes me vomit.

  14. jjf

Golly, Dad29, where do all those tourists come from, when they go Up Nort’?  Who visits the cabin?  FIBs?  Cousins?  People who live in cities who want to see the peaceful lake in the morning?

  15. dad29

You’re still denying the science of herd immunity, Jiffy?

OK.  Then YOU shelter under your bed throughout summer.

  16. jjf

No science denying here.  You have a study that shows that if you get it, you don’t get it again?  Or how long that immunity lasts?  Yeah, we don’t have that yet.

To answer my own question…  yes, most of those Up Nort’ folks come from Wisconsin, if you want to believe Walker’s Department of Tourism.

  17. Mar

So, jjf, you must a Democrat stooge. So many times I have asked you to be a man of your word and demand Wisconsin up and you teguse.
You have repeatedly that the hospital cannot be overwhelmed.
The fact is the hospitals and EMS systems
are not overwhelmed but in fact in several areas are underwhelmed, especially in Madison where they are laying off medical personnel.
I guess you are not a man of your word, you do want to keep the State closed down just to harm President Trump.
There can be no other option.

  18. jjf

Again, you’re outraged because you’re pretending to not understand what you’ve read many times before.  The goal of suppression was to avoid overwhelming the hospitals.  Mission accomplished, so far?

Evers has presented a plan to open up.  Some of the WisGOP, not the leadership, presented a plan that was frankly quite similar.  What are you whining about?

Here’s Trump, yesterday, a genius, right?

Every day it gets better, and we had a fantastic call with the governors today and I would say that they are as thrilled as they can be, considering that the fact is that there has been so much unnecessary death in this country. It could have been stopped and it could have been stopped short, but somebody a long time ago, it seems decided not to do it that way and the whole world is suffering because of it.

  19. Mar

Deflecting again jjf, what a shame.
What a phony person you are.
Not even a man of your word.
And what Governor Evers did is practically nothing, helping very few people.
But I will give him this. He has done more than our idiot governor in Arizona.

  20. jjf

Mar, what sort of problem do you have with what I said?  Don’t get indignant.  Be civil.

Dad29, keep going.  Tell me about the relationship between R0 and herd immunity.  Extra points for actual calculations!

  21. Mar

Because jjf, you have said many times that the reason for the lockdown is that the hospitals and other medical areas are not overwhelmed.
Now they are not overwhelmed, they have plans in place in case it gets worse and the actual facts say the hospitals can handle many more patients.
But now, you deflect, weave and at times snarky but you don’t man up and say the State should open even more, with reasonable restrictions like social distancing.
You just not a man of your word.
    Shameful, but not surprising.

  22. jjf

Mar, and again you pretend to not understand what you’ve heard a hundred times from me and anyone else.

If you don’t care about whether the hospitals would ever be overwhelmed, say so.

If you have some other criteria we should watch, say so.  If you have a better idea, say so.

All the plans say the lockdown lifts when infections decrease.  Whose plan says otherwise?  Stop pretending you don’t understand.

You’re not far from Kevin’s “awful, just awful.”  But tell us more about how you’re an optimist and look for the best in people.

  23. MjM

Mar plays a game:  Let’s suppose a sudden outbreak of the the Chinese virus hits Kewaskum.

    I’m in……

Village of Kewaskum has a population 4221.  Add the town of 1030, for a total of 5251.

    Now let’s define the “outbreak”….

Given the newest revelations (see: LA county, Santa Clara County) that an average of 4.2% of population carries antibodies – meaning they’ve had the CCPvirus at some point in the past – that would suggest a total of 220 Kewaskumites have already been introduced to the CCPvirus.

For our outbreak, let’s label ALL of the Kewaskum-area folks who presumably have antibodies (220) as “positive” (even though 90%+ would never have been tested b/c asymptomatic).

WI itself is running about 23% hospitalization of detected positive cases.   So the Kewaskum area, with an “outbreak” of 220 new cases detected today would need 50 hospital beds at some point.

There are 6 major hospitals within 30 miles of the village of Kewaskum, and currently there are 2,344 open hospital beds in the surrounding HERC (Health Emergency Readiness Coalition) regions.

Yeah, I think it could be handled.

  24. Mar

MJM,it was an honest question, knowing what the answer would be.
Of course they would be ready.
As is every other place in Wisconsin and in 99% of the country.
Unlike other people visit here who have no clue what the heck they are talking about.

  25. Mar

jjf, now you saying infections have to go down.
You are just squirming all over the place, just like a worm or snake.

  26. MjM

DMOTP Jiffy falsely claims:  Evers has presented a plan to open up.

Of course, you didn’t actually read any of it.

Otherwise you would have seen what steaming craptacular pile of incompetent wandering it actually is.

  27. MjM

@ Mar: it was an honest question

Of course.  I was just emphasizing (again) the idiocy of our resident DMOTP.

  28. dad29

Never mind with fact-based scenarios, MjM.  Jiffy is impervious to facts that he doesn’t like.

Herd immunity is a fact he doesn’t like.  “People die” is a fact he doesn’t like–unless they die at the hands of an abortionist or Democrat Governor.  Then Jiffy likes death.

For normal people, Brahms’ question:  Tod, vo ist ein stachel? is enough.  You live, you die.

  29. jjf

Where are you getting this?  Herd immunity would be great.  How are you planning to get there, and what are the consequences?  Same question anyone’s been asking all along.  And who’s promoting death here, me or you?

And we can tell Owen is serious because even when Evers does something he asked for only days ago, he’ll ridicule him.

  30. dad29

How are you planning to get there, and what are the consequences?

Was your 6th-grade teacher proud of your juvenile questions?  Does she still send you birthday cards?

  31. jjf

Be brave, Dad29!  Just say it out loud.  You want those people to die, right?

  32. Mar

And there goes jjf with his death wishes.
This was his original before trying to BS his way through.
Just a troll, jjf, just a hate Trump troll, kill more people just because its Trump, jjf.

  33. Le Roi du Nord

Herd immunity is a “fact” yet, kiddies

  34. jjf

Mar, it’s Dad29 who thinks herd immunity is the betrer path, not me.  What don’t you understand?

  35. Mar

jjf, I was referring to your quote “Be brave, Dad29!  Just say it out loud.  You want those people to die, right?”
    But that’s ok, though.
Governor Cuomo really does has blood on his hands by ordering nursing homes in New York to take China virus patients.
He truly has blood on his hands.

  36. Mar

And Le Roi, you think the Rapist Joe Biden could do better than President Trump?
When he is not attacking a woman in his office, he’s certainly not keeping a proper social distance with women.

  37. Le Roi du Nord

Sorry, that should have said, “is not a fact”……

My golden retriever could do a better job than trump.

  38. Mar

You didn’t answer the question. Of course your dog is smarter than The Rapist. A slug is smarter than The Rapist.

  39. Jason

I notice how Jealous Johnny and Leroy pivoted away from MjM’s post as if it never happened.  As soon as Dad said something later that they wanted to pick apart, they jumped right on that.  Trolls, proven without doubt.

And I wonder just why Leroy has such high regard for his dog…  maybe a wellness check from PETA is in order to make sure he’s practicing appropriate touching?

  40. Le Roi du Nord

    mar:

    Yes I did.

  41. Mar

“Sorry, that should have said, “is not a fact”……” So, you were there? I am sure you were a strong Bret Kavanaugh defender as well.
And still waiting for your answer if Rapist Joe could do a better than President Trump during the Chinese virus crisis.

  42. jjf

Jason, it’s pretty simple:  Of what relevance to the spread of the virus are the civil boundaries of the village of Kewaskum?

  43. Jason

Sorry, swing and a miss.  Nice try, better luck next inning.

  44. Mar

Using JFK’s theory, then there should be no boundries… state, county, city, heck even national borders. These borders should not be considered.
For instance the same lockdowns in NYC should be in places like Montello, WI, Chinook, MT and Topock, AZ.

  45. jjf

Mar, if you’ve been paying attention around here, you’d know I have stated I can see the reasoning for region-based lockdowns.  Make your case.  But village borders?  Tell me why it makes sense.

  46. Le Roi du Nord

    mar:

Your question:  “you think the Rapist Joe Biden could do better than President Trump?”

My answer: “My golden retriever could do a better job than trump”.  And certainly Biden will do even better, without a doubt.

  47. jjf

Mar’s just playing.  Does he really care about sexual assault and misconduct?

  48. Le Roi du Nord

Obviously not.   Not in the WH, or in the SC.

  49. Mar

Aww, gee I am just hurt by the 2 of the leaders of the Wisconsin Concentration Camp where minorities are over represented.
And every morning the leaders salute their salute their leader, Herr Evers.
And every time someone dies, they do a jig and when a minority dies, they do the jig and have a shot of Peppermint Schnapps.

  50. jjf

And now he’s been drinking and posting.  Never a good mix.

  51. Mar

    Nope, jjf.
    Just telling the truth.
Say hi to Herr Evers for me.
If I had been drinking I would mispel alot of wards.

  52. Mar

Besides, jjf, I was born in Wisconsin. I have beer, cheese and Harley in my DNA. Though, I really never used the Harley DNA part.

  53. Mar

Maybe, jjf, you, Le Roi and Pat have NPR, Boones Farm wine and station wagons in your DNA

  54. Mar

From Le Roi: “And certainly Biden will do even better, without a doubt.”
How so? What would he do differently?
And I give kudos to your dog, Le Roi. I am sure he is smarter than you and Biden. And he is not even even a dog rapist. Definitely smarter than Biden.
But sadly, not as smart as President Trump, President Trump has not been accused of being rapist.
But Senile Joe, well, he has been accused of rape.

  55. jjf

    Four in a row!

Mar, tell us your history and knowledge of fighting sexual assault and misconduct…

  56. Jason

Ah, Attack the Credentials, I see.   Good play, Jealous Johnny.

  57. jjf

Jason, there’s no credential-ing going on here.  I asked for Mar’s experience and beliefs, not certificates.

  58. Mar

Aww, jjf, are you upset I am calling Rapist Joe, Rapiest Joe.
As far my experience in fighting sexual assault, well, I can say I probably have more experience than those Democrats and liberals who called Brett Kavanaugh a rapist.

  59. Mar

    “Four in a row!”
Well, jjf, I used to be a Special Education teacher and I broke down tasks for my students.
Since, with my experience with liberals like you, they have the attention span of a gnat, with apologies to the gnat.
So, I break down my posts so they are not so long, so it will help you and your fellow liberals, but especially for you, jjf, to read.

  60. Le Roi du Nord

    mar:

Well, my dog is at least smarter than you, as he knows that Keith Hernandez isn’t a murderer, that you don’t win a conservation, you shouldn’t take medical advice from a chronically bankrupt casino owner, and that the Brits didn’t have airports in the 1770’s.  And he never needs to brag about how smart he is, or uneducated everybody else is.

  61. Jason

Prove it Leroy.  You’re entitled to your opinion, but you don’t get to push those on us as facts.  They aren’t, you’re making shit up again.

  62. MjM

Nazi Nort’s same old song and dance:  you shouldn’t take medical advice from

…  a SJW who claimed insurance premiums would fall 3000% and that you could keep your doctor,  who wrote a whole book of lies,  thinks we built the intercontinental railroad, believes there’s 57 states,  calls military folks “corpse men” and cops enforcing the law “stupid”.

  63. Mar

Well, Le Roi, I don’t know how smart your dog is.
But I guarantee you that he is far more honest than, doesn’t cheer for people’s death, is not hateful like you are, is more loyal than, certainly has more brain cells compared to your 5 brain cells and I am sure has a much better sense of humor than you.

  64. jjf

And amazingly, MjM believes all those things about Obama, and MjM thinks he’s smarter for believing it.

  65. Le Roi du Nord

    mar:

You can blather on all you want, making yourself and those of your ilk believe something with no foundation in fact, but that still doesn’t make it true.

I have never cheered for anyone to die, nor do I hate anyone, not even you.  Now go win a conservation and quit bothering the adults.
