Planned Parenthood Fights to Kill Babies

This lengthy story about how urgently and fervently Planned Parenthood wants to be able to kill babies without any accountability or consequences is grotesque. At least there is one piece of morality in the piece.

Sen. Leah Vukmir, R-Brookfield, argues that informed consent is “pretty much standard operating procedure” for any medical procedure. While Vukmir, a registered nurse, was raised to oppose abortion, she says her health care background has played a large role in her approach to the issue. She recalls a moment in the 1980s, when a colleague expressed disbelief that Vukmir could be “a nurse and … pro-life.”

“It’s precisely because I’m a nurse that I’m pro-life,” she says. “This is what we do; we save lives. There never was a question for me whether or not I would support legislation to protect human life, because it’s professionally what I’ve always done.”

Wisconsin Blocks Planned Parenthood Funding

Good.

(Reuters) – Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker signed two bills into law on Thursday that block federal funding from Planned Parenthood and could cost the local organization millions of dollars.

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin could lose about $7.5 million a year because of the measures, an organization spokeswoman said.

[…]

One of the new Wisconsin rules requires the state to apply for federal “Title X” family planning grant money and to give those monies to “less controversial public entities” such as state, county and local health departments and clinics, a statement from Walker’s office said.

Planned Parenthood is currently the only entity in Wisconsin receiving this federal money and the funds will not be sent to the organization, the statement said.

Appleton Abortion Clinic to Stop for a While

Good news for hundreds of kids.

APPLETON — Planned Parenthood has suspended abortion services at its Appleton North health center for six months, the organization announced.

The decision for the center, located at 3800 North Gillett St., is due to a “temporary gap in medical coverage,” Teri Huyck, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, said in a statement. Its family planning center at 508 W. Wisconsin Ave. will remain open.

[…]

The services at the Appleton North health center, which performed 583 abortions in 2014, stopped on Oct. 14. There are no plans to move the Appleton health center to another location, and the decision is unrelated to ongoing legislative scrutiny against Planned Parenthood, Riis said.

The story is mostly an excuse for the reporter to parrot Planned Parenthood talking points, but there is a remarkable lack of curiosity about the actual reason. All we get is that it’s due to a “temporary gap in medical coverage.” What does that mean? Did the abortionist move? Did they lose some sort of certification to perform abortions? Why aren’t other services being affected? We have no idea because nobody apparently saw fit to ask.

Texas Officials Investigate Planned Parenthood

Bearing in mind that this entire story is built on the comments and positioning of the organization being investigated because officials can’t comment, can you imagine if this was going on in Wisconsin?

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Health investigators served subpoenas seeking hundreds of pages of patient and staff records at Planned Parenthood clinics across Texas on Thursday, as officials move to halt Medicaid funding to the organization that has been repeatedly targeted by the state’s top conservatives.

Planned Parenthood said investigators visited clinics in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, and a health center that does not provide abortions in Brownsville, on the Mexico border. They asked for patient health records and billing documents dating back to 2010, as well as personnel files that included the home addresses of staff members, Planned Parenthood said.

[…]

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott ordered state health officials to investigate after anti-abortion activists released undercover videos they allege show Planned Parenthood officials talking about the illegal sale of fetal tissue for profit. One of the videos was filmed at a Planned Parenthood in Houston. An investigation also is ongoing in Congress.

We can make some educated guess that officials in Texas are investigating whether Planned Parenthood, as an organization, systematically marketed and sold dead babies to the highest bidder as the videos indicate. If true, then Planned Parenthood’s activities are both morally reprehensible and illegal. Good for Texas for taking the alleged crimes seriously and investigating them for what they are – crimes. If the videos showed Koch Industries officials colluding to violate environmental laws to sell oil to the highest bidder, liberals would be protesting in the streets to have just this kind of investigation.

Obamacare Eating Into Planned Parenthood’s Profits

I finally found something about Obamacare that I like.

Many formerly uninsured women who once depended on Planned Parenthood for low-cost access to birth control, abortions and other reproductive healthcare have gotten coverage under President Barack Obama’s healthcare law, making them less reliant on the organization’s 700 clinics.

In many states, Planned Parenthood is losing clients as newly insured patients turn to medical providers included in their health plan’s networks, according to data provided to Reuters and interviews with more than two dozen of its affiliates.

“Some people relied on us because they were uninsured prior to the Affordable Care Act. Now they can go anywhere for care, and some of them have been,” said Lori Carpentier, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Mid and South Michigan, which expects to treat 58,000 patients in 2015, down about 15 percent from the 68,000 it treated in fiscal 2012, before major parts of the law went into effect.

Federal Government Steps in to Protect Planned Parenthood

Let me get this straight… the federal government is saying that state taxpayers must pay for a private organization that provides campaign funds and support for Democrats who run the Executive Branch of the federal government. I could understand it being possibly illegal to ban Planned Parenthood, but since when is taxpayer funding of a private company a guaranteed right?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. government has warned states moving to defund women’s health group Planned Parenthood that they may be in conflict with federal law, officials said on Wednesday.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, a federal agency, was in contact with officials in Louisiana and Alabama this month, said a spokesperson for the agency’s parent, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The agency warned those two states that their plans to terminate Medicaid provider agreements with Planned Parenthood may illegally restrict beneficiary access to services, the spokesperson said in a statement.

New Planned Parenthood Video Released

Each new video reveals a new level of barbarity.

A Planned Parenthood executive admits in an undercover video that her doctors alter abortion procedures and she manipulates prices to accommodate specific fetal tissue harvesting requests — including delivering fully intact fetuses — though doing so may violate federal law.

In the nearly 16-minute, edited video, the fifth released by Center for Medical Progress, a woman identified as Melissa Farrell, director of research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, discusses pricing for specimens — ranging from intact fetuses to tissue and organs — for outside tissue procurement companies.

“Yeah, and so if we alter our process, and we are able to obtain intact fetal cadavers, then we can make it part of the budget, that any dissections are this, and splitting the specimens into different shipments is this,” Farrell said. “I mean it’s all just a matter of line items.”

This video also reveals the fungible nature of money and how businesses can manage their money. The notion that the taxpayers can fund Planned Parenthood and NOT also fund abortions is laughably naive. After all, it’s all just a matter of line items.

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin Denies Need for Investigation

Yeah, I’m with Senator Stroebel on this one. It should be a quick investigation if they are telling the truth.

Officials with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin argue there’s no reason for an investigation of its state operations, because fetal tissue donations are not allowed at any of its facilities. Executive Director Tanya Atkinson says it’s due to the extensive infrastructure that’s needed to participate.

[…]

State Sen. Duey Stroebel (R-Cedarburg), one of the lawmakers calling for an investigation, does not accept Planned Parenthood’s claims that tissue collection is not done in Wisconsin. “No, I’m not going to just take their word for it. I think we need to see that and confirm that.”

Planned Parenthood Apologizes for “Tone”

Um, OK.

(CNN)Planned Parenthood’s president apologized Thursday for a top official’s tone in a controversial video, but she also denied the clip’s allegation that her organization profits from tissue donation.

Never mind the skilled butchering of kids to sell the choice parts…

Video: Ghouls at Planned Parenthood Harvest and Sell Baby Body Parts

This is a truly horrific revelation. With casual and graphic detail, Planned Parenthood describes how they harvest baby’s body parts for sale and how much different parts cost while munching on a salad and sipping wine. Here’s the full video from the hidden camera.

This is the face of true barbarity and evil.

Judge Rules Wisconsin’s Abortion Rule as Unconstitutional

Not surprising. Hopefully this will be appealed.

In his ruling, Conley wrote that the “marginal benefit to women’s health” by requiring hospital admitting privileges “is substantially outweighed by the burden this requirement will have on women’s health outcomes due to restricted access to abortions in Wisconsin.”

“While the court agrees with the State that sometimes it is necessary to reduce access to insure safety, this is decidedly not one of those instances,” Conley wrote. “In particular, the State has failed to meet its burden of demonstrating through credible evidence a link between the admitting privileges requirement and a legitimate health interest.”

I was a bit sickened by this quote…

“We all want to protect patient safety — this law doesn’t do that, as the court recognized,” said Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin CEO Teri Huyck.

Unless, of course, you are a baby. In that case, there is no place less safe than one of their clinics.
