Wisconsin Wins Ultimate Frisbee Championship

Huzzah!

The University of Wisconsin men’s Ultimate Frisbee team repeated as national champions, downing Florida 15-9 Sunday in the title game of the UPA College Ultimate Open Championships in Boulder, Colo.

Florida had beaten the Hodags 14-13 in a regular-season meeting in Austin, Texas. But UW, which has nine outgoing seniors and grad students, turned the tables when it mattered, relying on a tenacious defensive attack that produced four turnovers in windy conditions.

The 2008 championship match will be televised June 8 at 7 p.m. Central time on CBS College Sports Television.
