He won’t make it formal until fall, but Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker today left little doubt he’ll seek another four-year term in office in the spring 2008 election.
In an interview in his courthouse office, Walker presented a lengthy list of accomplishments since he took office five years ago in the wake of the county pension scandal. He plans to deliver a series of similar speeches this week making the case that he’s helped put the county back on the right track and has long-term goals that would extend well into another four-year term.
“It would be hard to imagine putting out a list of five-year plans without planning on being around for five years,” Walker said, when asked if he planned to run for re-election.
Scott Walker is the best thing that’s happened to Milwaukee County in a long time. Frankly, it baffles me why he would willingly seek to lead the county for another term given the long-term structural problems with the county. I guess he likes a challenge.
In any case, good luck, Scott. But curse you for running in an election in which I can’t (legally) vote.
