Taylor Supports Higher Taxes in Milwaukee County

Senator Taylor tells us what she’d like to do as County Executive - raise taxes

The candidates for Milwaukee County executive split sharply today on taxes, with challenger Lena Taylor suggesting she might support an increase in the sales tax and incumbent Scott Walker opposed.

Taylor, a state senator speaking at a candidate forum, said she’d “be open” to considering an increase to support county transit, if residents told her they favor that. She did not say how large an increase she might favor.

Taylor also said “yes,” when asked whether she’d support extending the stadium sales tax to help pay for local transportation and housing needs when Miller Park borrowing is paid off. The 0.10% stadium tax has been projected to expire in 2014.

That’s a heck of a campaign slogan.  “Vote for Taylor for Higher Taxes!!!”  It gives me chills.
