James Rowen helps out the “I Blame Scott Walker” campaign.
But the remaining $91.5 million piece has been frozen in dispute, primarily because Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker has balked at using it on one or more rail transit investments.
Ummmm, James? This money was originally put on the table in 1991. It was cut down to $91.5 in 1999. Those dates were well before Scott Walker assumed office. In fact, this money sat on the table with people bickering over it for over a decade before Walker became the County Executive. Blaming Walker for the entire situation is a bit idiotic.
Furthermore, you are arguing that Walker is to blame because he doesn’t want to use the money for a rail system. The same could be said of other folks that they won’t agree to using the money for something else. The notion that someone is guilty of obstructionism because they disagree with you is a bit snobbish.
Tell you what… I’d like to spend that $91.5 million to buy a fleet of cars that would be available to be “checked out” for free by Milwaukee County residents - kind of like a library of cars. It’s a great idea! Don’t balk… just agree. You don’t want to be blamed if the money is taken away, right?
