We just heard about the sexual conotations of these supposed “Sex Bracelets” last night here in San Diego. My 13 yr. old, our 15yr. old neighbor and my 18 yr. old daughter have never heard of this although they have worn the bracelets for several years. Alot of the news websites have been saying that these bracelets are making a comeback from the 80,s and that it was thanks to Madonna, well me and my friends wore them in middle school in the 70’s in New Mexico. We wore the black ones only and created cool looking knots by combining two or three of them. They were simply cool. When I saw them make a come back I bought tons of them for my daughters in every color. They wear either just the black or they will color coordinate with their outfit of the day. We have found this whole story so STUPID!!! We are laughing at the whole idea that a simple fashion statement is some how sexual. I remember when Green m&m;’s supposedly made you horny...so now what? No one raide the vending machines and take out all of the m&m;’s to protect our innocent children. I’d like to see any school official ban these bracelets so soon after the whole Rancho Bernardo High School Thong incident. Go Search for that story it made national news too. The Vice Principal who initiated it was fired. All I can say is WHAT EVER!!! If my daughter wants to wear a bracelet or a thong she can and it does not make her a slut. What makes a slut is slutty behavior only. You could wear the most modest clothing and still be a slut in disguise. Plus if a boy did try to take a bracelet from her she’d take him down in a heart beat. No body messes with my daughters!!! Is there a color for a kick in the crotch?

I recall reading in a model railroad newsgroup a few years ago about a wheelchair bound individual who sued a local club, claiming that layout tours were a public accomodation, and therefore had to be wheelchair accessable. End result was that people could no longer allow strangers in their house to view their layouts. If you shut down the playing field, there is no need to level it.

I think you people are pathetic. I’ve always worn those Jelly bracelets and noone at my school ever wore them until a shitty singer known as avril lavigne came out. Everyone went out and bought them then. Everyone at my school wears them and noone snaps off the bracelets at school and expect to get whatever it means. The last time I was in a stadium theater I noticed space for a wheelchair toward the top, in the middle. A nice change, because previously all wheelchairs had to park in the front row (where you have to lean your neck back to see anything and the view is rotten).
The problem with adding accessible seating isn’t making the space, per se. All you do is take out some of the seats so there’s room for a wheelchair. The problem is how you get a wheelchair to the space you’ve provided. On the front row, there’s no issue. On the top row, you just have to make sure there’s an elevator or ramp to the second level of the building. But in any of the middle rows you would have to have a ramp, and I think there might be an issue with the degree of incline in typical stadium theaters (the incline can be steeper when you have stairs than when you don’t, and if its too steep you can’t wheel up or down).

i just saw this on the new today, and before that, i’ve never even heard of these so called “sex bracelets.” i don’t think that this is as widespread as the media has made it seem, and if you’ve read all the meanings of the colors above, you can see that there isn’t really a universal meaning for any of the colors, there’s even one about britney spears and justin timberlake, o.O Now that the news are all over it and people are making a bracelet ban, it will become ever more popular. i’m in middle school, and lots of people at my school wear jelly bracelets or dangles and there’s really no meaning to it except that they’re cool lookin’. Its just a small faction of bored kids who thought it would be funny to make a gross little game out of an innocent fad.
PS. And is it just me, or are most of the reports saying that the game is being played amonst 5th and 6th graders? eesh. -_- gross. oh, and i agree with what Kat said.

Thanks for the item on Veterans Day. As I get older and reflect on this and Memorial Day, I think of the original meanings of these Holidays, Armistice Day and Decoration Day, and what they represented. Honor to those who served and passed during WWI and the Civil War (both North and South). It helps me link the past with the present, and that we always have to be ever vigilant and on our guard to protect the freedoms, both religious and political, that have been fought for since 1776. Take care, God Bless You and Wendy, and give those kids a big hug for me, as they are the future.
