Thankful?

Is the media truly “hell bent” on convincing us we have nothing to be grateful for?  Why?  Because they’re reporting on the worst economic situation we’ve seen since the Great Depression?  That’s hardly a reason to get all hostile on them for their ungratefulness.

Buchers Sue West Bend Hotel

I fell on the ice at work and snapped my ankle in two. In addition to the ankle I suffered a blood clot in each lung, and a staff infection that required 24/7 antibiotic feed by an infusion pump housed in a backback I had to carry around for 6 weeks. Fortunately for me, workman’s comp covered everything.

It was a freak accident. Never once did I consider suing anyone. The ice in the lot was from early morning fog that had condensed. I knew it was there and was trying to be careful. Things just happen sometimes.

No parent wants to see their toddler go through that kind of pain. I’m trying to give the Bucher’s some benefit of doubt, but it pretty difficult.

Shame on them.

Father Impregnates Daughters 19 Times

Mike:  I stand by my reading of the “sexual-hedonist” comment.  If the commenter wants to clarify and indicates that I’m incorrect, great.

As far as accountabiltiy, where do you want to start?  Democrat members of Congress?  Maybe the 70’s Gay Liberation or “if it feels good do it” mentality?  Maybe you’d like to talk about the deafening silence over sex with an intern in the Oval Office?

Pretty disappointing...the whole concept of “emotional distress” being something you can sue for needs to be scrapped.  Shame on the Bucher’s.  The fault here lies entirely with them, and the people they had watching thier child.  You can’t take your eyes off a kid that age....

Steve-
No. Sexual-hedonist was a label for (all of) the left that David used.  His words, from earlier in the comment were directed at the entire left left “...isn’t that what the left tells us?” Then you say, “The left has shown no propensity for holding this kind of behavior accountable” can you show me some kind of precedent for this statement?  Otherwise it comes off as just another ugly accusation designed to drive partisan debate out of the realm of rational and blindly into the confrontational.

David-
I’ll look at the facts in your words: “As a society (worldwide, in fact), we have decided that sex with one’s children is immoral.” How does that discount the left? This is a position firmly held by those across the political spectrum.  Why is that hard to admit?  Have you convinced yourself that anyone on the political left is the moral equivalent of a child molester? Is that where you’d like to position the left?  That far out of the societal mainstream as to condone the acts in this post? That’s just wrong.

Union Kills More Jobs

$197,000 for 2 employee’s pensions?  My goodness that’s outrageous.  And another $300,000-400,000 this year?  That’s in addition to their pay, health care, taxes and other benefits.
And do you think the employees will ever see that amount of money in their pensions?  Of course not.
Unions are great in killing jobs.  The lefties complain about Wal Mart killing jobs, which of course is false, but unions have killed more jobs for the working people of the country.
Hopefully, the owners will close this shop and then open another business.

Father Impregnates Daughters 19 Times

Mike,
Take a look at the facts: the father had urges for his daughters.  As a society (worldwide, in fact) we have decided that sex with one’s children is immoral.

So the father was left with a choice: act on his desires, or not.

There is word for one of those options.  Go ahead, you can say it; the father could abstain from sex with his daughters.

My point was: who are the ones who always tell us that abstinence is an unrealistic expectation of people in the face of making sexual decision based on morality?  The left.

Therefore, the left should really have no problem with this guy simply acting on his natural sexual desires.

Whether or not the hotel was required to have some namby pamby liberal nanny state protections in place to avoid this kind of mishap, it’s a total and complete reversal of both of their stated ideologies to avail themselves of a tort system they’ve not only criticized, but mocked and derided.  But that’s the way it always seems to go with these people.  Personal responsibility for everyone but themselves.

Time With God

There’s been a narrative thrown about over the last 10-15 years or so that there’s some kind of “war against Christianity” going on,

This is at least partly because of Christianity’s founding documents and narrative.  I have no doubt that first-century Christians faced quite a bit of persecution.  Since these are the people who compiled and wrote the Christian scriptures, you see that theme reflected in it all over the place.

Of course part of it is just because it’s a convenient narrative in much the same way that some white Americans find the idea that minorities are disadvantaging them in some way a convenient--if largely untrue--rallying cry.

Apparently the Mob never repaid Central States for the money they took to Las Vegas.

...which, of course, is all Bushitler’s fault, too.

Let’s not kid around here.  The Mob ran both Central States AND Las Vegas for years--one of the mob affiliates lived in Brookfield and ran a “real estate” company.  The Teamsters have no one to blame but themselves, if you take the long-range view.

Now let’s figure out how Scott Walker was involved!

So, not everyone agrees the union caused the demise of this company. Does anyone really believe the union had anything to do with keeping it vital? What value did the union bring to the company?

Blaming Scott Walker about the state of MilCO is as crazy as blaming the police for showing up at a crime scene after a crime was committed. The real crime at MilCO is that the pillaging went on for as long as it did. The unions there were accomplices and co conspirators.

Leave it to Capper to make this about Walker. You are so predictable. The reason Milwaukee county is in such a deep “sh*tpile” is because your buddies on the board have cost this county hundreds of millions of dollars for pension and sickleave benefits. Get your head out of your ass. The liability was there BEFORE Walker, he’s working with what he has been handed and the county will be dealing with this issue for years to come.

Countries With Emerging Economies Want More Control

Dear Sirs,
First of all, when the presidents of the G20 met in São Paulo and demanded more political power on the decisions that will affect us all in the world, it doesn’t mean we want to rule US economy. That is and will allways be the task of american people and government.
So, no, we don’t want more control on your economy.
Nevertheless, we want you to have less control on our economy. That’s why our commercial relation with the US is now in 4th place, after China, the European Union and the Mercosul (Free Trade agreement between Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, similar to your NAFTA).
You say the world economy has been linked for thousands of years. It was not always truth, as many nations tried to live isolated from others in the past (f.ex. Japan and China in Middle Age). Anyway, when there was one power who ruled the world, like the British Empire until the 19th century, you americans tried to get rid of their oppression and your example was welcomed by the other new nations on the Americas.
Now your arrogant comment seems to want to come back to the times of Pres.Roosevelt’s big stick policy, with your neighbours in the south. Believe me, as true as Mr Bush puppet was defeated last November 4th, by your voters, it will not work that way anymore.
Our voters here in Brazil have restablished democracy since 1989, and sent back to the barracks the militaires that you helped be in dictatorship power for more than 25 years of torture, corruption and barbary (check your CIA files).
You better study much more geography, economy and international politics if you really want to stay tuned with reality.
We look forward to work together as economical partners, but with mutual and equal respect.
Best regards,
Your neighbour in the sunny Rio, south of the Equador
Luiz G. Moraes

Union Kills More Jobs

Owen:
The guy who actually runs the place says business has been weak since last year and the future was already cloudy. That would suggest other major issues were at play here.

I don’t see anyone saying they’ve had a “good year.” One guy—not the one running the place—says business has improved since August. That’s a long way from a “good year.”

And you say the competitive landscape is “improving”—I guess that’s one way to characterize the environment when a rival closes. If Stock Lumber’s accounts were so “nice,” how come its North Carolina-based parent decided to shutter it?

Indy suppliers like these have been vanishing for years. Recessions are brutal on businesses like this. I can’t imagine banks are champing at the bit to lend to independent lumber yards. I don’t see a great deal of homebuilding taking place in the year ahead. Or are you planning to open a supplier catering to small to medium home builders in southern Wisconsin?

But if you want to blame it on the union, I suppose that’s your prerogative.

Happy Thanksgiving,
