Randy Melchert to Run for 24th State Assembly Seat

Randy Melchert announced today that he is running for the Republican Nomination to fill the 24th Assembly Seat in the Wisconsin Legislature. Melchert filed the papers with the Government Accountability Board this morning and will be collecting nomination signatures starting June 1st. The 24th Assembly District
represents all of Butler and Germantown, most of Menomonee Falls, and parts of Richfield. The incumbent Representative Suzanne Jeskewitz announced on May 8th that she is retiring from the Legislature.

Melchert envisions a pro-life, pro-family, pro-growth Wisconsin. Melchert will be working to make Wisconsin an economic greenhouse attracting high quality corporations, jobs, and families. As posted on his website (www.randymelchert.com) Wisconsin has the seventh highest state and local tax burden according to The Tax Foundation. Melchert believes we need to stop raiding settlements and reserved funds to pay for our out-of-control budget. With aggressive spending controls we can begin to reduce taxes, and thereby revitalize the state economy.

“The average household in Menomonee Falls will give Madison $77,672.07 in income and sales taxes over the next ten years if things do not change. Our out of control tax-and-spend philosophy is stunting our growth and diminishing our federal role. Wisconsin has lost almost one-third of its congressional seats in the past eight censuses.”

Melchert said. “The president’s temporary stimulus package may help the nation for a little while, but Wisconsin needs a permanent stimulus package in the form of a massive personal and corporate income tax cut. Immediate cuts in taxes and spending will help make Wisconsin an economic greenhouse.”

Melchert is a life-long 4th Generation Menomonee Falls resident. He has a master’s degree from Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL; and is also completing a master’s in Rhetoric and Public Address. He also is the owner of Quad Cities Media, which operates the full power radio station WKBF-AM in Rock Island, IL.
