Celine Dion is responsible for the world’s worst cover version, a poll of music experts has decided.
The Canadian star’s rendition of the AC/DC track You Shook Me All Night Long was given the dubious honour in the Total Guitar magazine survey.
Here it is. Sorry.
Here’s another crappy cover.
Here’s a good duet version.
And of course… the original.
Ahhhhh… that’s better.
UPDATE: Per Wendy’s request, here’s Big & Rich’s crappy cover. We saw them do this live. It was not pretty.
What? No Big & Rich?

But .. no. It’s not a ‘girl’ song - and if i ever thought so listening to the first clip ....
Posted by Brian Dunbar on June 23, 2008 at 2159 hrsPerhaps it’s because I never liked the original song, or any of AC/DC’s sound for that matter, but I didn’t think Dion’s cover was that bad. >_> And I am no fan of Dion either.
Labeling the videos A, B, C, D & E, from top to bottom, I’d rank them in this order: B, D, A, C, E.
Shania is fun to look at and doesn’t sound half bad, and AKUS is top notch, musically. It’s not their sound, but they pull it off IMO. I’m no fan of AC/DC’s original, but it’s the best of the rest. The Dion cover is out of place, but no more difficult to listen to than the original. C & E sound terrible. The duet with Tyler sounds like bad karaoke: Tyler is all over the place and misses a lot of the tune.
One man’s opinion.

Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on June 24, 2008 at 0951 hrsOkay, the worst covers ever were done by William Shatner, but Celine Dion doing AC/DC is not that far from the bottom. Awful!
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on June 24, 2008 at 1043 hrsThere is a cover of “You Shook Me” that I like. It’s by Hayseed Dixie.
I think it’s because they went about as far away from rock as it’s possible to get - it’s bluegrass with a rock twang.
The conceit is that these hillbillies from so far back up in the hollar they’d never heard music made later than 1950 found a crashed Trans-Am with a cassette - AC/DC’s ‘Highway to Hell’.
And the rest was history. They’re on YouTube .. Joe Bob says “check ‘em out”.
Posted by Brian Dunbar on June 24, 2008 at 1050 hrsCeline Dion stinks, even when she covers Celine Dion songs.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on June 24, 2008 at 1121 hrsI’m sure we’ll be seeing AC/DC cover a Celine Dion song on their upcoming tour.
