Woman Shot Over Jean Shorts

Yikes.

Police in Ohio say a woman shot her cousin to death during an argument that started because one woman didn’t think the other was dressed properly for Easter dinner.

Columbus police say 19-year-old Danielle Pickens showed up Sunday night at the home of Evelyn Burgess wearing a T-shirt and jean shorts. Detective Steven Eppert says 42-year-old Burgess told officers she thought the outfit was inappropriate and disrespectful.

The women fought. Police say Pickens walked outside to leave and Burgess shot her in the head with a handgun. Pickens died at a hospital early Monday.

On the scale of “disrespectful,” I’m pretty sure murder is further down the line than jean shorts.  Although, I admit, it may be close.

  1. Thank God she had a gun handy to defend herself in that situation.  Without that option she’d have been left with no choice but to discuss the difference of opinion.

  2. Is prison attire more acceptable than jean shorts and t shirts

  3. grumps,

Thank God we have you here to show us what a tool you are.  I hope you’re pushing to have the gun punished, and not the older woman.

  4. I’m pretty sure the wearing of jorts would be punishable by death in any fashion-forward civilization.

  5. She said that she “didn’t mean to shoot her”... THEN WHY DID YOU GO GET THE GUN, AIM, AND FIRE??

  6. That’s one hell of a dress code.

Grumps is right. These killings are impulse killings, and having the gun handy tragically magnifies the result, versus the theoretical notion that it might be useful for protection.

  7. Sorry, Keith…if not the gun, I’m pretty sure a knife or a bludgeon would have done just fine.

Grumps (and you) are wrong.  As usual.

  8. Thats right Grumps, and Keith (failed book salesman, and radio espionage general), the knife that was used to carve the ham wouldn’t have served the same purpose. That woman was crazy enough to kill another human being, whether it be by gun, knife, or fist, she did it… The gun did not. I know liberal meme dictates that nothing is the fault of any individual… but blaming an inanimate object for an insane woman deciding to kill a relative is pretty stupid.
