Woman Is Arrested After Being Caught Speeding on Camera

I hope there are more facts than shared here, because this isn’t right

A Nevada woman has been arrested after photo enforcement cameras on a Phoenix freeway captured her behind the wheel of a car speeding 22 times in a 45-day span, authorities said.

The woman, 24, was arrested by Arizona Department of Public Safety officers on suspicion of criminal speeding, reckless driving and endangerment.

During a 45-day period starting in May, DPS officials said the woman was captured by photo enforcement cameras on Loop 101 in Scottsdale 22 times, with her top speed at 92 mph.

I would venture to guess that approximately 70% of the population of Wisconsin could be arrested if the standard is merely speeding 22 times in 45 days.  For example, I drive to and from work every day.  Over 45 days that means roughly 66 trips.  If I go 70 every time, I would be caught speeding 66 times in 45 days. Does that constitute “criminal speeding, reckless driving and endangerment?”  If it does, then we better build some more jails.

If she was seen repeatedly weaving, crossing the center line, or other activities that would reasonably constitute reckless driving, then maybe arresting her is OK.  That’s why I say that I hope there’s more to this story.

  1. Yep, the dreaded camera tickets are alive and well in this area of America. A friend of mine got caught flooring a rental Prius not realizing the gas motor kicks in. Her ticket was mailed back to Wisconsin.

  2. Funny you should mention this!  Our IPass somehow failed last month and we were mailed a ticket from IL for our ventures to and fro.  Fabulous licence plate shot, by the way!  I hope they aren’t counting…...........  I HATE stripes.

  3. I was caught on the same stretch of the 101 about 2 weeks ago. The only problem with the cameras is everyone slows down under speed limit and it makes the traffic jams even worse.
