Wisconsinites Singled Out For Fines

Wonderful.

Hundreds, and possibly thousands, of Wisconsin motorists might have been wrongly fined - some for thousands of dollars - by the Illinois tollway because of a mistake in the I-Pass system that electronically deducts tolls from credit card accounts set up by drivers.

“They’re out to get us - there’s no doubt about it,” said Kevin McAllister of Germantown, who was mistakenly fined $140 for tolls dating back to 2006.

And even when the problem was resolved and the fines were cleared, some I-Pass holders said they were charged the cash price on tolls instead of the half-price discount they signed up for when they purchased the devices.

“That’s the whole point of having an I-Pass,” said Patrick Patterson of Milwaukee, who got hit for $1,000 in bad fines.

  1. “They’re out to get us - there’s no doubt about it,”

Is this another one of those FIB things?

  3. And ya gotta love the fine print..

You cannot dispute the fines for the follwoing three reasons:

    1) Doesn’t matter if you were driving the car or not, your car your responsible for the fine. (I can pretty much understand that.)
    2) Doesn’t matter if you intentionally did it or not. (Get that too.)

    and the kicker:

    3) You cannot dispute the ticket because of length of time between violation and issuance of the ticket!

I’ve heard of some violations going back quite a few years. I’m sorry, but there should be a reasonable limit on time between violation and issuance of the ticket..
