Who’s In Charge?

Wait

President Barack Obama’s chief of staff says BP chief executive Tony Hayward has committed yet another in a “long line of PR gaffes” but attending a yacht race in England while the Gulf oil spill disaster continues.

I thought Obama had been in control since day one.  Who cares if Hayward goes yachting if Obama is in charge of everything?

  1. My sentiments exactly.  620tmj was repeating themselves every hour on this topic.

Meanwhile Obama goes to a baseball game.  BFD.  I only care about two things.

    1. Stopping the leak. (Remember when the MSM was giving hourly updates on BP’s attempts to plug the hole?)  What happened?

    2. Prevent the oil from reaching the shore.  (We now know how important that is vs safety inspections of the clean up crew.) Yet the clueless amongst us are defending this stupidity.

    Buck Ofama!

    Worst president ever.

  3. Since this started, Obama has gone golfing a number of times, has gone on vacation, has observed several heritage days, had both the mens’ and womens’ NCAA champs visit, has had the celebration/concert for Sir Paul McCartney and has met with Bono. (Oh and as Jon Stewart pointed out, also took time to be interviewed by Marv Albert.)

  5. If Hayward had a Nobel Prize, he would be allowed to do such things.

  7. Yep, Obama did all that stuff during the crisis (just as Bush did all the normal presidential visits, interviews, appearances all throughout the wars). So it seems your ire should be at the media for a double-standard, not at the president.

  8. Well george if you set the kool aid down, bush got hammered repeatedly in the media, for going to the ranch, to not doing enough during katrina. etc etc. So nary a peep for obama. Except for john stewart calling him out.

  9. And George, Bush [retty much stopped golfing in 2003 or so.  Get your facts right, kool aide drinker.

  10. The point is - is that if Obama’s chief of staff is complaining about the CEO of BP going to a Yacht race for a few hours - he looks like a total HYPOCRITE because he obviously knew that Obama was out on the golf course for 5 hours playing 18.

Something about a pot and a kettle comes to mind…

Another top quality representation of the intelligence of the left, courtesy of Boots and Sabres’ own resident liberal genius.

    Good work George.

    My Take:

It is absolutely ridiculous that either man would take any recreational time during a crisis of this magnitude. They both deserve to be hammered for it.

“I’m rubber you’re glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you”

“sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me”

“I know you are but what am I?”

Interesting comment coming from a foul-mouthed blog troll.

  15. Should the President play golf once in awhile - yes.

Should Mr. Hayward attend a yacht race once in awhile - yes.

You can’t be “on the job” 24x7. Even when these guys are on “vacation” they are still working.

  18. Issues regarding the Oil spill in Gulf Mexico had been very critical and mostly debated these recent days. It is just both parties especially BP has been on its highest point of resolving the problem. Obama administration had been doing its part too. But still no concrete and effective solution have been made just like the current problems in our country, financial crisis, unemployment, etc.

Recently, the financial reform bill could really impact auto dealers. They are searching for an auto dealer exemption from the financial reform so the dealers can continue to set their own rates and to utilize industry-standard lending practices; rather than having somebody oversee them. This could impact auto loans more than one might imagine. I used to think we had a free market with free trade, but lately I are seeing that right disappear more and more. Our government is trying to fix things that aren’t broken and crossing the line between helpful and control.

  19. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1288211/White-House-fury-BP-boss-Tony-Haywards-yachting-day-off.html

Obama found time to go golfing on Saturday—the second time this past week:

But at the same time, Mr Obama, who famously announced that he wanted to ‘kick ass’ over the disaster, was also accused of taking his eye off the ball by indulging in a leisurely five-hour round of golf for the second time in a week.

    hmmm

And Hayward was relieved of the day-to-day duties relating to the spill:

    http://content.usatoday.com/communities/greenhouse/post/2010/06/bp-hayward-oil-spill/1

BP chief executive Tony Hayward will hand oversight of day-to-day clean-up and capping operations in the Gulf to another executive, BP’s chairman said Friday.

Carl-Henric Svanberg told Sky News that Hayward is going to change his role in dealing with the spill and that the day-to-day operation would be led by BP managing director Bob Dudley.

  23. Well it is CNN.  Hardly a news channel, more of an entertainment channel.  Kinda like Fox, only from a different perspective.

Oh yeah….Doodieheaded people on the other side smell funny and have no friends.  They’re also adopted by one legged albino hippies with only one nostril.
