   pretty arid - not highly developed for waterfront property - roads are pretty good. drive on right side of street.

    Mirbat, Oman. In 1972 the SAS fought communist rebels there during the Dhofar Rebellion. Battle of Mirbat (Wikipedia)

    The building just above the cluster of buildings in the middle, with the circular part at the bottom right corner is (I think) Mirbat Castle, where the battle itself was fought.
