Warm Someone Up This Winter

Our friend Patrick, who blogs at BadgerBlogger, transports the elderly and disabled in Milwaukee. Last year at about this time, he put up a post about how some of his riders are not dressed warmly enough for the weather. He mentioned that he carries a blanket and some stretchy gloves, just in case. Yesterday, as a reminder to people who care for the elderly and disabled, he reposted his post from last year.

After that first post, I sent Patrick a few blankets and some gloves, and yesterday he sent me the picture of a girl who received one of the blankets. The look of happiness on her face warmed my heart. It was just a blanket, but it was just what she needed on a cold day.

Would you please consider helping Patrick put more smiles on people’s faces this winter?

Menards has these blankets on sale this week for just $1.99. WalMart has those little stretchy gloves 2 pair/$1.50. You can take them to the Drinking Right Christmas Party on January 3 (to which you are all invited), or send them to me (email Owen @ bootsandsabers dot com for details) and I will make sure Patrick gets them. Or, if you’d rather, find a business that transports the elderly and disabled in your own community or a homeless shelter that could use a little warmth.

There’s no reason for anyone to be cold, especially when a little warmth is only $2. Please help Patrick and others who help the elderly and disabled. I wish you could see the smiles such a small gift can bring about.
