Vote Tomorrow

The Wisconsin primary is tomorrow.  Who are you going to vote for?

As a conservative, I’m left without a horse in the race.  There are many conservatives who are planning to cross over and vote for Hillary Clinton because they believe that she is easier to beat in the general election.  As a general rule, such efforts to manipulate an election tend to be useless or backfire.  Primary elections are the time when people have the opportunity to vote for the candidate that they want to represent them in the general election.

That’s why I’m voting for Fred Thompson.  He’s still on the ballot.  Fred Thompson is not perfect, but he most closely represents my views.  I am casting my vote to tell the Republican Party that their front runner is not who I want at the top of the ticket, even if it is now inevitable.  I want to walk out of the voting booth having voted for my choice for the Republican nominee - not just the choice I’m left with.

  1. That’s a waste of a vote and your time.

  2. If you vote for Senator Clinton stand up and be proud if she is elected President!

  3. I love how emo you’re all getting over this election, as if something you deserve (a favorite toy) is being taken away.

  4. I am glad to see you are coming out against the conservatives that are voting for Hillary.  You characterized it accurately, “manipulating the election”.  Voting for someone you don’t want to win undermines the will of the voters and is ethically not much different than other types of voter fraud.

Americans are dying to create a democracy in the mideast and some of the people that claim to support that effort are blatantly advocating for abusing the democracy we have here.  I find that simply shameful.

  5. Republicans who think they can outsmart the electorate by crossing over and voting for Clinton or Obama because they “can be beat in November” are also willing to ignore the same ignorant electorate who voted before us and gave us a choice between McCain and Huckabee.

Vote your conscience, beliefs and principles and you will never have a regret.

That goes double for you Ms. Silva and TosaVoter (Paultard).

if you are a conservative, don’t play the crossover game - you have a 50/50 chance of regretting that choice and by all means don’t vote for the presumptive nominee - that will only encourage him.

Let the presumptive nominee know that much like his home state - he can’t break 50% in Wisconsin. Vote Republican, but vote for someone else.

  6. Great to know Fred is still on the ticket.  We can always hope he can still be the candidate Bush selects.
The problem in WI Primaries is that if one votes for Oballary one cannot vote for any conservative in any other race, and also if one votes for any Republican one cannot vote for any other best candidate in any other race.

  7. Hawkman… it’s an open primary. You can zig-zag down the ballot and the machine won’t spit it back at ya.

  8. I’ll be waiting for the result of the primary election. I’m anxious to know who will be the contenders in the general election.

  9. I am voting for Mike Huckabee for 2 reasons:  He is the only pro-life and pro-Second Amendment candidate on the ballot and to send a message to McCain that is he is not my first choice.

  10. Heh.  I looked up the sample ballot and found Fred—so that’s TWO of us, anyway.

  11. @45acp,

Congressman Ron Paul understands and supports the Constitution, not just the second amendment.

    Regarding abortion, Chuck Baldwin says:

“The only presidential candidate who has a commitment to saving the lives of unborn babies and who understands the constitutional authority of Congress to end abortion-on-demand is Texas Congressman Ron Paul (with the exception of Alan Keyes, who recently announced his candidacy). You read it right. At this point, John McCain is all talk; Mitt Romney is all talk; Fred Thompson is all talk. And even Mike Huckabee is all talk.” http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin415.htm

  12. In France they vote for, in the primary, and against in the final.  If people want to waster their vote in the primary, well, this is America.  In 1988 I wrote in Ronald Reagan for the primary.

  13. I too will be voting for Fred Dalton Thompson.  I refuse to vote in the primary for either of the “officially” remaining GOP candidates who are basically Dem Lite.

While it is an open primary it is also straight ticket meaning you have to vote either Dem or Republican.

  14. I voted for Hillary.  I did not vote for her because I think she’ll be easier to beat; I agree, those “strategic” votes rarely work or make a difference. I voted for her because, of the two Democrats, she frightens me the least.  She’s too establishment to do anything too crazy and, if she tries, she could be the greatest tool to infuse the GOP w/conservative values that we’ve had since the Republican Revolution.

I don’t know what will happen in November but, if it has to be a Democrat, I’d rather Hillary than Obama so, in a way, I did vote my conscience.

    I don’t regret my vote.

  16. Wisconsin is open primary now?  I missed that, stuck in a place where I hear all about Detroit politics, but nothing of WI.  When did open primary become WI law?

  17. Undr Bob LaFollette.  I am the only one old enough around here to remember that.  Read the history of the crooked politics in Wisconsin before Bob LaFollete.
