As a guy that grew up reading Calvin & Hobbes, few things piss me off more than when a-holes use Calvin’s image without Bill Watterson’s permission. Basically any merchandise you see is counterfeit (the only exception is a couple of calendars). Waterson wanted his comic strip to stand on its own. It was art to him and it was important to a lot of kids. It’s not so much the copyright breaches that bug me, but how Calvin’s character is so mistreated. He wasn’t crude and he didn’t care about truck brands. He was a mischievous, whimsical kid, but not a bad kid. He was awesome. I’d be lying if I told you I’ve never peed on a truck displaying one of those window decals. They all deserved it.
