Two Wisconsin Folks and One Texan Charged With Assault

Aren’t we proud

Jan. 17, 2009 10:41 a.m. | Two Wisconsin residents and a Texas resident have been accused of throwing a large road sign off a bridge during the Republican National Convention.

Twenty-three-year-old Bradley Crowder of Austin, Texas, 23-year-old Karen Meissner of Menomonee Falls and 18-year-old Christina Vana of West Bend were charged Friday with aiding and abetting second-degree assault.

According to a criminal complaint, protesters picked up sandbags used to hold down a street sign and used them to try to stop buses carrying delegates to the Xcel Energy Center on Sept. 1.

Throw the book…

  1. Another display of the kind and caring liberals.  They do need to have the book thrown at them, not because they are liberal, but it had the potential of creating a very serious incident that could have hurt or killed people.

  3. Dan - it wouldn’t have mattered - they would have only been killing Republicans.  That doesn’t count…  Or maybe those are just extra points in the “ends justify the means” game.

  5. Do the “youth” in West Bend still meet at the library to plan criminal activity?  I don’t know if I ever saw a follow-up.

  7. Please folks… the carnage as a result of throwing sand bags off of the bridge is completely justified if it keeps just one conservative from getting to exercize their constitutional right.

  8. OK, as an Austin liberal, I hope he gets what’s coming to him. Which, as a rule, means whatever someone with a similar record gets for committing the same offense. But I’d hope it would (and should) be pretty serious for something like this.

  9. sam I call bullshite on you. Meeting to discuss where to meet to talk about how to meet(or however many degrees of separation the useless, crap spewing, long haired, oxygen wasting, mask wearing, good only for worm food “college kids”) to plan an attack on recruiting stations may not sound like criminal activity to you, but those of us that pay taxes, are gainfully employed, and have our heads on straight, no matter the political lean, see destroying private property as a criminal act. Now, trying to kill people…because unless you are willing to admit that 18-23 year olds are not competent to figure out that dropping sand bags on passing vehicles can kill, is taking the whole off the deep end liberal college student thing a bit too far.  Throw the bench at them and let them figure out how to overcome a felony when it comes time to get a job with the BA they got with mom and dad’s money.

  10. the actions taken against the recruiting center were hardly planned in west bend and the unfortunately high rate of benders getting arrested that night combined with the low rate of milwaukeeans can only be explained by the fact that milwaukee folks know the streets much better.

moreover, the sign which is talked about in this article (the sandbag too) was dropped onto an exit lane that was closed to traffic aside from rnc delegate buses. these busses were never in danger. ya’ll just bein’ cra-zay.
