RIP.
Tony Snow, a conservative writer and commentator who cheerfully sparred with reporters in the White House briefing room during a stint as President Bush’s press secretary, died Saturday of colon cancer. He was 53.

Tony Snow brought a reasoned approach with him each time he took the podium at the White House to field questions from the press corps. The role of Press Secretary is one that I think would be just about the best job one could want in that building, other than be the President. Snow was a master at his job because he knew that he had a message to deliver, but need not be disagreeable while performing his duties. He brought a calm demeanor with him, along with a smile and laugh that would prove to be his allies as he worked to answer the questions that the press, and the nation, needed answers for.
