I just finished reading The Godfather by Mario Puzo. I can’t believe I’ve never read it before, but I so rarely read fiction any more that it must have been an unfortunate oversight on my part. In any case, it’s a fantastic book and actually makes you appreciate the skill with which the movie was made even more.
I couldn’t put that book down. And I don’t think you can fully understand the movie without the book. There is so much explained, in detail in the book, that a lot of things that just seem to be in the background in the movie begin to make sense. Now watch the movie and you’ll understand much better.
Except for that whole part about Sonny’s ex-mistress and her surgery. I dunno what Puzo was thinking there. Or what his editors were thinking.
I just watched it for the first time this week. What a great movie, I’m sure the book is better.
I read this in college (yes, quite some time ago) and it was the first book I really read from cover to cover in one sitting. Of course, it was much easier to pull all nighters in those days.
Having had a nasty break up you are wondering how to get your ex back. Obviously you are not feeling very good about it. Your head is spinning and you can’t stop thinking about the break up, what might have been. If only you had said something different or did something different.
I know how you feel…
