Thanks for having me.

I wanted to thank Owen for giving me the opportunity to blog here for a few days.  I hope I don’t screw anything up - he sent me this long sheet of how to do this and something about messing up the sidebars.  Whatever that means…

At any rate, I thought I would mostly give you a peek at how I consume news from around the world and share the things that I think are interesting and that you may find interesting.  As I settle into this blogging thing, your patience is appreciated.

If you have ideas you want to share, send them along to me at: kramer_wi97-at-yahoo.com. (for some reason I had to type it out this way…)

So, to get started:

Who wins the GOP primary in South Carolina today?

UPDATE: McCain wins.  Is this good or bad for the GOP?

  2. McCain wins, but never mind that.

Why do parents have to go to Madison to get a new bill passed to save virtual schools because a judge makes a ruling which would eliminate them, but a federal judge has ruled Wisconsin’s minimum mark-up law unconstitutional, yet the law remains in force? I ask you because, as a co-sponsor of legislation to replace the minimum mark-up law, you’d be in the best position to answer.

  3. HD -

Thanks for stopping by.  Because I want to keep the comment thread germane to the question re: the South Carolina GOP primary, is it alright if I answer your question in a separate post in the next couple of days?

I’m actually really glad you asked that question - it’s a good question with a specific answer.  I think it is good to make the distinction for the public.

  4. Is that “hope” or “will”?

The former would be Fred Thompson.

    The latter - Mike McCain

  5. I couldn’t wait to see if you addressed it, but I understand.

  6. With all the stuff that has come out about Huckabee (including what he has shown in the debates), I’m stupefied why he is still polling so high (and I’m an evangelical Christian FredHead).

    confused

(Plus I’m also looking forward to your insight on the proposed VCS legislation ... I’d also be interested in your thoughts on the legislation not infringing on homeschooler rights. grin )

  7. I look forward to hearing your views. SC went pretty much as I expected. I see Fred dropping out soon, with Rudi probably following after FL. If Huckabee picks up Thompson voters (along with Hunter), it could be a three man race on Super-Duper Tuesday.

  8. Who wins the GOP primary in South Carolina today?

I read this question before the news about the primary so ... the smarty-pants answer is ‘the wrong guy’.

  9. As a lifelong CONSERVATIVE (read Republican) voter…I do not know if I can force myself to vote for McCain if he becomes the nominee.  Like many people I know, we will probably just skip the election—even if that means Hillary or Obama gets in.  They can’t be any worse.

  10. Hillary and Obama can’t be much worse? Wow.

I disagree with McCain on some issues, but I disagree with Hillary and Obama on just about every issue, therefore, Hillary or Obama would be much worse for the country, especially with a Democratic Congress.

I’m rather hopeful about Obama.  At the very least he’s neither a Bush, nor a Clinton, nor a Boomer.

But .. if you don’t vote you forfeit (smile) your right to bitch and complain.  Is it worth it?

  12. Oooo ... good point, Brian ... I like to complain LOL so now I’ll have to vote.

    tongue wink LOL

  13. McPain?

HRC will blow him out of the water; he has more baggage than an Amtrak passenger train.
