Teachers Beaten In Zimbabwe

More fair and free elections in Zimbabwe.

He has three broken ribs, a bandaged right arm and is barely able to sit up; traces of blood can be seen in the drip attached to his stomach.

Two weeks ago he was beaten with iron bars in the northern Mashonaland Central Province.

He says the ruling Zanu-PF party youths who attacked him wanted to know why his school, used as a polling station in the 29 March elections, recorded a high figure of opposition voters.

  1. What, no applause from the usual suspects? The guy’s a union teacher, after all.

  2. “Usual suspects?”

Please cite examples of people on this blog celebrating the senseless beating of an innocent man - teacher or not.  Just because some of us oppose the tactics and effects of unionized teachers does not mean that we want them to be beaten silly.

    Cheap shot.  Grow up.

  3. OK. Maybe that was over the top. And there’s the exact same number of “celebrations of senseless beatings” as there is of the number of acknowledgement of the importance of unions.

Although just four posts above this one, you refer to union thugs, as though a group of teachers would show up to try and rough up their opposition, or something. How is union thug not a cheap shot in this context?

I’m a proud union member, and I get sick and tired of seeing unions demonized.
