  1. Are you going to take the time to swing by Brett Davis’ office and call him a whore to his face?

  2. Damn, I can’t make it because I have to work so I can pay my taxes.  Rally on!

  3. Well, it looked like the union goons disregarded their own memo to hold a “peaceful” counter-rally and spent the day honking their horns and shouting down the taxpayers.

Amazing.  The people who pay the goons their salary were effectively told to shut up or else.  So much for public service.

  4. Owen,
Great job at the rally. You got conservatives to shout “no more Taxes” the silent majority is awakening.
I have 3 photos of you speaking today- how do I email them to you?

  5. “Americans for Prosperity drew hundreds of people outside the Capitol to say lawmakers should not raise taxes. They were surrounded by a larger group, made up primarily of state union workers, calling for a budget that includes new taxes on cigarettes, hospitals and oil companies.”

It’s interesting to me that more folks showed up to the rally in favor of the budget than showed up to the rally against the budget.  I guess not having a budget just isn’t as popular as some on the right would like to believe.

  6. Nice rally. Looks like the “taxpayers” got owned by a whole bunch of other taxpayers who want to get a budget done.

AFP holds a rally, and the counterrally ends up being the bigger story.  It’s bad ideas like this that are the reason Democrats own Republicans in Wisconsin right now.

  7. I see that Owen’s famousness has greatly increased as told over at Wispolitics.com’s budget blog: http://blogs.wispolitics.com/budget.html

Boots and Sabers blogger Owen Wilson said that the Democrats’ budget is “dumping out money like it’s candy.”

He also called the legislators who signed his pledge vowing not to vote for a budget that includes tax increases the “taxpayer caucus.”

Maybe Luke Wilson will rally for AFP next…

  8. I’m sure if more taxpayers were paid - or perhaps threatened - to attend the rally, the turnout would have been different.  Obviously, if you stick a pig, it will squeal.

All we learned today is how loud those pigs can actually squeal.  Oh yea, and if you’re a union goon, you better make it a practice to hold the taxpayers in contempt…or else.

  9. Well, they fixed it now, but it definitely said Owen Wilson. I should have captured a screen shot, but that would require me to know how to capture a screen shot. I guess I found the typo funnier than the budget negotiations.

  10. Owen’s a big fat chicken. When confronted with the fact that over 100 Firefighters were standing with their Union brothers and sisters, (this after the Firefighters attended a event to honor fallen Firefighters on 9/11), Owen was asked why they were not standing with the no tax crowd, he said, “they are not thinking right”.
When asked if he cared to take the time to tell that to their face he ran away.
What a chicken, guess it’s easier, and safer to attack First Responders from behind a blog…Owen, Big Fat Chicken!

  12. So I guess you’re either a big, fat chicken (Owen) or a big, fat pig (union goons).  I’m a big, fat Pelican!

  13. To Wendy, fact,  as witnessed by over 6 people.
Not “intresting version of event”, just the facts…

  14. It’s odd to me that many of you seem to forget that union workers are taxpayers.  So I hope they don’t hold themselves in contempt?

  15. Uh-huh.  I would looooooove to see Owen run.  He just doesn’t do it.

I believe then that you also witnessed the physical contact that caused Owen to walk away.

  16. Mr. P. Pants, the public employees took time off to be there today.

What you do on your time off, I don’t want to know.  But with a name like P. Pants, you better not be doing it on public property. . . .

  17. many of you seem to forget that union workers are taxpayers.

Yep daver, and what is even odder is that from a whole bunch of perspectives AFP is a “union” of sorts.

I happened to recognize a couple of those “union goons”, they work for the would be Senator, Tim Michels, not the state.

  18. Oops, almost forgot.

It would seem that Priebus is determined to continue the compaction of the GOP into a smaller and smaller base.

I myself don’t think Doyle lied, he just relied on poor intelligence reports;-P

  19. I was in the capitol last Wed and saw all the green-shirted wonders cirulating in unison and thought maybe it was the “make every day St. Patty’s day” revolt.  Don’t these people have jobs to go to?
Maybe it was really the “Please tax me more circus”.
    my mistake
