Great things happening in Hartford. I received the press release below. It’s good to see them getting organized.
Taxpayer group in Hartford to field a full slate of fiscally conservative candidates for the 2010 spring election:
The Hartford Area Taxpayers Association (HATA) is pleased to announce that four fiscally conservative candidates have come forward to run in the spring elections of 2010. The group will be led by 1st District Alderman Tim Michalak who has announced his intention of running for Mayor of Hartford. “It became clear last fall that the city is in need of changing the way it does its business”, said Michalak when asked about his decision to run for the Mayor’s seat. “To spend money the city doesn’t have on things that the city doesn’t need at a time when seniors and families are struggling is simply unacceptable.” Michalak added.
Michalak is a husband of

20 years and father of seven. Michalak received his degree in Constitutional History at the University of Wisconsin.
Included in the group are the following Aldermanic candidates:
1. Nicole Flannigan – 1st Aldermanic District.
2. Josh Waszak – 2nd Aldermanic District.
3. Bob Jewell – 3rd Aldermanic District.Keith Dunavant, a spokesperson for the group had this to say about the four candidates and the upcoming election. “We have not been this excited about an upcoming election in quite some time. I believe that in the current economic climate, people are really paying attention to who is spending their money and who is willing to say NO to more government spending. We need people who will not be a rubber stamp for more taxing and more spending. Times are difficult and the future is uncertain at best. Our candidates will protect Hartford’s seniors and working families.”
