Previewing key elements of his State of the Union address, President Barack Obama is announcing on Monday a series of initiatives aimed at calming some of the economic fears of struggling middle class families.
The proposals to be unveiled by Obama and Vice President Joe Biden at the White House, and which the president will push in his Wednesday night speech, include a doubling of the child care tax credit for families earning under $85,000; an increase in federal funding for child care programs of $1.6 billion; capping student loan payments to 10 percent of income above “a basic living allowance;” expanding tax credits to match retirement savings; and increasing aid for families taking care of elderly relatives. The plan would also require all employers to provide the option of a workplace-based retirement savings plan.
As I look through that list, there is only one that would apply to me. That’s Obama’s problem. Instead of offering broad initiatives that would help everyone, he picks and chooses winners and losers. So while I find one thing that would benefit me, I realize that I have to pay for all of it. What a deal ![]()
Thats the problem with this guy and his administration they just dont get it. When advisors need to be hired in order for him to understand the middle class go figure.
His proposed job bill we look the same nothing of any broad substance. Tax breaks for a business that hires, so again we are putting a band aid on a broken leg and when the benefits dry up so again do the jobs.
How about a tariff on all manufactured goods, this should level the playing field equal to what American munufacturers pay out in benefits.
The man does not have a clue, but hey all the more easier come November.
Child care tax credits? We threw away 2 trillion dollars on the Obamateurs stimulus schemes and he wants us to turn health care over to him for another trillion or so…. but all he offers is a child care tax credit???
We are at a U6 unemployment rate of 17.3%. What do the 1 in 5 Americans who are unemployed need with child care credits? They have plenty of time for child care… they don’t have a JOB to go to. For crying out loud, democrats… those people need jobs. Real jobs in a real growth economy. Yeah, that’ll restore stability to the middle class… after all, the number one worry in America these days is paying for day care.
I can hardly wait to hear the speech. While he is a sad excuse for a president leading a sad excuse for a political party, at least I can get a laugh for my wasted money.
I wonder how much he’ll blame on President Bush…
capping student loan payments to 10 percent of income above “a basic living allowance
a “basic living allowance”? Do I work for the Twentieth Century Motor Corp. now?
I’m having a flash back to the 90’s. As a single man living in my own home each time the Clinton administration reached out to the “middle class” they used tax credits aimed at families. My taxes never went down. Now it is more of the same, if you want to “help” the middle class then why not everyone in the middle class?
Get back in line Delta Doug and take your soma. The One will tell us what to do and we will like it.
