As a follow-up to this story, I was reminded of this.
State Sen. Jon Erpenbach (D-Middleton) is not afraid of part-time work. He filled orders at Land’s End before the company closed a distribution center, tried to work as a Realtor for a while, and still occasionally delivers pizzas when his nephew’s restaurant gets busy.
For two months, he’s been stocking shelves—Aisle 18, specifically—on weekends at the Woodman’s grocery store on Madison’s east side. He usually works the second shift, earning a still-on-probation wage of $10 per hour.
If you’re wondering, Erpenbach said, “It’s the Frito aisle.”
Crafting a $20 billion health care program to force on all Wisconsinites by day… stocking shelves by night. What a man.
$10 an hour at a union shop. That’s what i make at Wal-Mart, in a non-union shop. Hmm, looks the union doesn’t do much for him.

It is not different there. I used to work at the Madison West store and before they remodled it, the person who did that also stocked stuff like koolaid, soda that isn’t stocked by vendors, bottled water, etc. They also stock the other chips and snacks that are not stocked by the vendor like Pringles, Gardetto’s etc etc.
I would think he would like working there. The central office tells people where to stock and how fast they need to be stocking. I used to refer to the head office as the Kremlin.
