Stay Home, Doyle

Mark Rahmlow thinks

Democratic Governor Jim Doyle’s departure for Ireland comes as legislators continue to negotiate a $650 million budget deficit for the current cycle.

A few months ago, Doyle put the budget process on hold while he toured China. And once again, Doyle is signaling he will introduce a fix – but will travel abroad soon thereafter. The legislature is scheduled to meet only a handful of days in the coming months; certainly the month of March presents the best opportunity for the governor to fix a mess created largely by his administration.

I agree.

  1. But Bush touring Africa as a Recession mounts is ok??

I smell the word Hypocrite being used again??

It’s now Doyle’s fault that the few days the leggies meet coincides with his trip??

How about we get the Leggies to meet more than 13 times a year?

Wouldn’t that make the most sense??

  2. Can I go on taxpayer funded trips in order to avoid dealing with stuff?  Sounds like fun!

  3. Exactly how many does the legislature meet, in say a biennium, we should after all account for all that extra work they put into a budget?

Lets see $94,000 divided by (Xdays) is how much a day?

And let’s not forget those bennies>

  4. How is the budget deficit Doyle’s fault again?  Oh yeah, I forgot, Doyle is responsible for the national economy going into a slide, decreasing states’ economic forecasts all across the country, while the housing market breaks down and credit markets crumble.

At least Doyle is trying to encourage ongoing economic investment with one of Wisconsin’s largest trading partners.  God forbid he do something proactive.

This while a “full time” legislature decides it doesn’t want to work this year.

  5. Look at the positives.  While out of the country he can’t infringe on any more of my liberties or further raise my taxes.
I hope he finds Ireland more in line with his liberty hating, tax everything, socialist views.

Why did he go over there anyway?  Oh, I know, collect some more tainted campaign cash.
