Kudos to Starbucks. I may have to start drinking coffee.
Starbucks has been forced into confirming it’s OK to carry guns in some of their coffee houses, after campaigners tested its policy.
Anti-gun protesters want the coffee chain to declare its coffee houses “gun- free zones”.
But in some states, where it is legal to carry a weapon, Starbucks says enforcing a ban would mean turning away law-abiding citizens.
the need to carry guns into a place where folks drink coffee is lost on me
It’s simple Mark: 1) the constitution allows it, so you must do it. 2) there’s a 1 in a million chance that there will be an armed robbery, and the police will take 5 minutes to get there, so its better to have all the customers armed and ready
As I’ve reminded gun owners who aren’t coffee drinkers, but who want to support Starbucks for their policy after harassment by anti-gun groups, don’t forget that they have breakfast breads, cupcakes, sandwiches, hot chocolate, and cider.
For all the anti self defensers here I will type slow. concealed carry(CC) and open carry(OC) people are responsible no matter what your rag and failed, failing or tax supported radio and TV programs tell you. If a CC or OC folks wanted a latte(they are human and do consume liquid) They would have to park, secure their weapon, go in and buy, and then re-deploy their weapon. I am thinking many would forgo the latte or go elsewhere for their caffeine fix. Starbucks is being a good corp citizen by adhering to the local laws and allowing their customers freedom of movement. We all agree that freedom of movement is a good thing right?
Myself and 2 friends went to Starbucks in Waukesha yesterday (after the gun show at the Expo). We all carried. There were no issues whatever. The manager even came over and told us it was fine with him. Starbucks is gaining much business by their correct decision to allow that which is lawful to be conducted in their stores. For Mark Maley-do you carry a spare tire in your car? Why-are you expecting to have a flat or is just a precaution you hope you don’t have to use? Do you understand the logic Mark?
I am shopping a Starbucks from now on! Who woulda thought?
I thought Starbucks was run by a bunch of liberals.
Spare tires =freedom of movement =the need for guns at Starbucks.
now that is a winning argument.
MHM
the need to worry about the need to carry guns into a place where folks drink coffee is lost on me.
Honestly… why would you care at all if someone carries a gun while drinking coffee? How does it affect you Mark?
Mark, in true anti-self defense style, misses the mark completely. Sure we have freedom of movement. The point is though that it should be convenient. I will pose a scenario for you. You carry legally but the store you want to run into is a no weapon store. Total transaction time is about 3-5 minutes. You park your car, get your weapon case, unlock it, remove and unload your weapon, secure the weapon in the case, secure the case, get coffee, unsecure case, load and redeploy weapon, secure case, be on your way. Now the current scenario. Get out of car, get coffee, get in car, be on your way. Strictly from a convenience standpoint, I would not enter a store with an anti self defense posture. From a safety standpoint, I have now put a sign on my vehicle and back saying I am CCing thereby nullifying the primary purpose of CC. Strictly from a financial standpoint, Starbucks is following the law and their need for profit by not turning away folks that are following the law. Contrary to the anti self defense folk’s posits, individuals that practice CC or OC are responsible and conscientious people who don’t leave expensive equipment laying around for stupid people, children, or the useless dregs of society to get their hands on and potentially hurt someone.
