Or…
Do you think Governor Spitzer wishes that maybe Brett Favre played for a New York team and New York was a state that lived and breathed football?
Governor Spitzer hates capitalism and the purveyors of capitalism. Alas, the irony in all of this is that whichever bottle of ink he was dipping his veto pen into is a part of the oldest existing form of capitalism. The second oldest, as President Reagan once said, is politics. There is still much to be learned of this incident and Governor ‘Client 9’ Spitzer, but be certain that Wall Street will probably react favorably.
After years of screwing business and industry by the former AG and now CEO of New York, the screwing has returned to bite him in the butt. But that’s an additional $500.

Creepy!

Posted by hsgbdmama on March 10, 2008 at 1850 hrsHis poor wife ... :(
I have often wondered what motivates those wives to stand there. Setting aside for the moment the explanation of blind loyalty to their husbands (that’s an explanation I find hard to swallow), why is it that so many wives of politicians stand by their men, so to speak, at these public mea culpas. Why not let him just wallow out there alone? In most cases, and apparently in this one, doesn’t the guy deserve it? What gives?
Posted by Mike on March 10, 2008 at 2157 hrsThere has to be a lot more going on here. I hope this lasts a long time and gets more humiliating by the day.
Posted by on March 10, 2008 at 2223 hrsI confess a sense of curiosity concerning the service provider, in that I spent more than that(4.3K) for fungible services almost 15 years ago.
Relax, no state lines were crossed.
Posted by on March 10, 2008 at 2311 hrsI have despised this terrible person for many years. I am glad he is finally getting his reward. I hope they prosecute him.

Really? Death threats? Did you want to fill David Vitter full of lead, too?
And they say liberals are the crazy ones ...
Posted by folkbum on March 11, 2008 at 0605 hrsOk, then at least his large goony photo should be target practice.
Does that sooth your sensibilities?
Posted by Cindy on March 11, 2008 at 0712 hrsGee, no liberals are critizing this scum bag. What a surprise!! Shows what the liberal mentality is-perversion rules. Gee Jay, did you post something about Mark Foley on Daily Kos? Where is your outrage? Your condemation? Nah, he’s a liberal, so we will give him a pass. We’ll just stay silent on the matter and hope it blows over. Boy, I guess being a hypocrite must be part of the liberal DNA.

Maybe because they enjoy their extortion money?
Wall Street Journal 12/24/03
Posted by on March 11, 2008 at 1556 hrsThree civil settlements he struck in an unusual case against wealthy telecom executives and IPOs have allowed him to bestow more than $5 million in largess over the past several months to dozens of community groups across New York state. The recipients are intended as a sort of proxy for individual investors who allegedly suffered from the actions of the defendants, who were accused of profiting from undisclosed awards of sought-after initial public offerings from investment bankers seeking their business. ... But the groups receiving the windfall also represent voter constituencies that could be key to Mr. Spitzer’s widely expected Democratic run for governor in 2006.
Oh Dan, you provide such endless amusement:
Boy, I guess being a hypocrite must be part of the liberal DNA.
Let’s serve a list of hypoChristians.
Caution, it is so long you might go blind reading this.
Posted by on March 11, 2008 at 1706 hrsKeith,
Nice list, some of the sources are quite comical.
How long do you think the Democratic version would be?
Its nice to see that DailyKos is spending its time solving problems.
Does your tinfoil hat come in multiple sizes?
Posted by on March 11, 2008 at 1726 hrsGee Jay, did you post something about Mark Foley on Daily Kos? Where is your outrage?
Given that this situation involved consenting adults (still breaking the law, but consenting adults nonetheless), a more appropriate parallel would be David Vitter.
I wrote nothing about Vitter on my blog, or on Daily Kos. I personally think both Vitter and Spitzer (and Larry Craig) should resign, but as their conduct did not involve preying on children, it doesn’t rise to the level of outrage I felt about Foley.
Posted by folkbum on March 11, 2008 at 1742 hrsLet’s serve a list of hypoChristians.
Actually it’s a list of HypoRepublicans - Ten of the examples do mention being tied to Christian organizations, but the majority do not.
Wonder how long the list would be of Democrats who say they are “for the common man” but actually deem themselves intellectually superior to the common man? Just thinking of the whole “downscale Democrats” (Clinton base) vs. “upscale Democrats” (Obama base) strategy.

...which means you don’t have such a list. Is your issue that most of these come from legitimate news sources?
Like Jay, I also want Spitzer to resign. So the question is why Vitter and the toe-tapping hyprocritcaly homophobic (on the Senate floor ate least) Larry Craig are still in their seats?
The GOP has nothing to say on this issue.
In fact now in retrospect it would have been great if Clinton would have resigned and then we would have had a real excellent president, not like our current one who is channeling for a larcenous Jed Clampett.
